I am optimistic but that is probably best case scenario. Vegas, Fresno St., Colorado St. and Boise St. are over-rated and Wyoming is under-rated. I think Aztecs will be first with a 14-4 record. Curious, if you're predicting four losses for us, who are your five losses against? I would assume you are predicting UNM over SDSU at the Pit if you are predicting four for us. At SDSU, at Wyoming, 2 more on road and 1 unknown at home. What do you think your record will be?

I dunno...I think that both Rick and Monster seem to know a lot about their respective teams...and both are cordial when adding to the conversation...so I'm not against them posting here... ...and frankly...it beats the "fire Rocky and Sterk" lynch mob that congregates here after an Aztec WIN (as if winning isn't enough for some people)... He's done this the past two years, shows up preseason and is very cordial, knowledgeable, etc. Then Lobo game-week comes and he either a) talks smack about their win or b) talks smack about why we beat them/why Lobos are still better. He's a troll in wolf's clothing. Monster never trolls and is polite in victory or defeat.

(btw, where's the fire lev kirshner crowd?)

For myself the most fun item about New Mexico - will be to watch the fans turn against themselves on their fan boards as they lose a lot of games and then put pressure on noodles & noodles jr. Its always fun to hear what the 5 posters at lobo liar are chatting about.

Last I checked New Mexico is in the MWC. When your team loses it is easy to take an opponents words as something they are not. I think that is some folks experience. I have never known Rick to be anything but a straight forward fan who isn't here to troll or rub our noses in any defeat.

I do enjoy the board, then most fun was during the recruitment for Z.

Bill, you either have a short memory or weren't privy to the threads where he showed his true colors (two years ago after we held UNM to their historic low he was the worst). True, he's not your prototypical trollobo who just pops in - flames smack - then pops out. But as I wrote two years ago, that makes him even worse - slinks in, pretends he's a good guy and then smacks AMers for their posts after our mutual games. I've proven my points with excerpts of his in the past, I'm not going to take the time to do it again here. But just wait til conference season, he'll prove my point again. And I'm curious why any AMer would defend an opposing fan who's on our board. One might argue, by definition, his presence here alone constitutes trolling.

Monster is our vegas guy. Rick is our Lobo. Fang is Fresno, I think I don't know Fang, but I miss the Borg. Only reasonably decent thing to ever come from Utah, BYU, or Mormonism. Fangdog I think his name is. Yeah we all agree that Borg was a cool poster regardless of who he supported. I'm sure he'll show up if/when we play them again.

Rick usually comes on here and gives a decent opinion of his Lobos MBB . Lobos put most of their money in their MBB team , with their football team not doing well and have not been to a bowl game in a long time . This could be a very interesting year for his Lobos , a transition year , losing their 3 best players, not performed well in MM , not able to bring in more then 1 top 150 HS recruits and needing to rely on JC's , transfers, or guys from other countries . The same thing most of the other schools in the MW have to do other then the Aztecs or Rebels . Look at their OOC schedule , weak , to me it shows a coach that is trying to build up confidence with his re- built team . Maybe best for them but does send a message to most of those not on the Lobos campus , or on the MM committee. Would ask Rick , what chance does he think the Lobos have of getting to MM or NIT ? MW is probably going to be a two bid conference again . The Mountain Division teams can not get quality teams to travel to their school and do not travel to many of the other quality schools in the country . They rely on beating the Aztecs and others for their big win . IN the long run it hurts the Aztecs and Rebels who are scheduling a good OOC and trying to be relevant nation wide.

At SDSU, at Wyoming, 2 more on road and 1 unknown at home. What do you think your record will be? Games that concern me are: 1/14 at WYO; this place always gives us fits. Elevation, very remote travel in January and Larry Nance are tough to beat all at once. 1/24 at CSU; the back end of a two game road trip to wintery Colorado in late January (at AFA 1/20). At WYO 1/14, vs UNLV 1/17, at AFA 1/20 then at CSU 1/24 will yield problems after 10 days like that! 2/8 at BSU; another back end of a two game road trip (UNR on 2/4). Last year we were saved by the Holy Polee miracle and this year BSU may be better than last year. 2/17 at UNM; always difficult with the noise at the Pit. 3/4 at UNLV; the Rebels are this years MWC wild card with great talent but questions everywhere else that matters. The Bataan Death March of a travel schedule in the MWC makes it extremely difficult for any team to run the conference table in any year. Also, with SDSU being highly regarded in the polls, all teams and fans will be bringing their 'A' game against us every night. I don't know where the losses will come from this year but we will not lose all five of the games above. We may lose two and perhaps a let down in a game at home, but I'm thinking/hoping for 15-3 in conference this year.

I think Rick generally tries to come here and engage in thoughtful conversation about our respective teams but as others have said he sometimes ends up coming off as a troll. The lobolair founder Mark comes off as an extremely angry and lonely man who is quite delusional in regards to UNM Hoops and projects his delusions onto his loyal subjects at the lobolair. I think Rick is just a super fan who let's some of marks delusions rub off on him. Rick, Mark and other lobolair posters would probably pick the lobos to finish 2nd in the MWC even if the Heat, Cavaliers, and Spurs were in the MWC.
On another note I heard a story that I found hilarious from a co worker and good friend of mine who is a UNM alum and big time hoops fan. So that insane lobo fan "jcblobo" who came here to write that long creepy manifesto about how much he hates us actually drove to Arizona with his son for the Zylan annoucement because he was so sure Z was going to UNM. Not too long after that we received his long angry manifesto lol.

I couldn't hear anything that happened, but it was glorious to watch his reaction via cam until he shut it off less than 4 seconds after he heard Z say San Diego State. Wouldn't have known his SN, so thanks for that.

I'm planning on being there for that game as I can only imagine what it will be like when Fish puts him in!

The MW is a conference that got 2 bids last year for MM , and it looks as though it could happen again . MW has some terrible places to travel to , then toss in the altitude . So every road trip is an adventure in the winter in the mountains , and can put quality teams at a disadvantage . More terrible places to play/travel to then quality teams. And those teams rely on beating the Aztecs for their "quality win" Not too many teams in the MW will have victories over top 50 or top 100 teams during the OOC , Aztecs and maybe Rebels but wonder what other MW school steps up for the conference during the OOC and then in MM . Count up how many top 100 HS recruits are signed by MW schools for 2014 , then in November for 2015 , other then SDSU or UNLV ?

I would give this guy sshit about posting this here but the sad thing is they're Aztec fans who obsesse over New Mexico for whatever reason so carry on I'm one of those people that post on the Red Menace. Why do Lobo fans think posters like me are obsessed with the Lobos? I post because of some of the misinformed, stupid comments by Lobo fans.
