A Stefanie Loh tweet said this 5-game home winning streak is the longest at the Q since......(drum roll)....SEVENTEEN YEARS AGO (October 1998 to September 1999).
In that streak, the Aztecs beat Hawaii (35-13), Utah (21-20 in OT), Fresno State (10-0), UTEP (34-29) in the 1998 season, and South Florida (41-12) in the 1999 home opener. Air Force ended that run with a 22-23 win, followed by a 21-24 loss against New Mexico. Point being, it was pretty close to being a 7-game home winning streak. With Idaho next home game, there should be no excuse to not make it 6 games in a row
Note- Amazing how SDSU started off its 1998 season with losses to 3 ranked teams: 20-ranked Wisconsin (14-26 at the Q), 22-ranked USC (6-35 at the Coliseum), and 16-ranked Arizona (16-35 at the Q) and still managed to regroup to make it to the Las Vegas Bowl

Claude Gilbert was our defensive mastermind in 98. I remember KGB, The Two Joeys (Tuipala and Mayo), Jerome Haywood and Rico Curtis causing damage.
They were the prelude to the Dark Side.

Actually there were 3 Joes. Jackson was the other LB. A helluva group of LBs.
