If we're talking about using the game as a recruiting tool...then let's play Findley Prep...at least this way the Findley players would get a chance to come to Viejas and experience the kind of spanking the we give UNLV each time they are here...

Interesting digging a little deeper GCU travels to Kentucky and Indiana this year, Dan Marjle also take them home to Central Michigan and they play UNM and Harvard. UNM know Harvard they kicked there ass in th tourney knocking them out in the first round.

If the Aztecs want to play in Arizona the University of Phoenix is the perfect opponent.

New Athletic Director Mike Vaught from SMU has secured a home and home with SDSU and Louisville. I am not sure why Fish would commit to GCU, I get the USD, Point Loma, SDCC and St. Kate's game in SD. There's got to be more to it then that. It's not like Las Vegas where BB has top HS players and schools. This is a head scratcher. Fish is giving us Phoenix Aztecs some love. lol

aka the school with the annoying commercial Never seen it but not surprising. It's a one-campus University of Phoenix with sports teams. They do weird things like that in the Phoenix area. I remember that at one time, the city of Scottsdale contracted out its fire department. Must be something in that Colorado River water.

There is no return game. That should be the only way we play schools like GCU. Playing SMU in a home and home is nice. Are you sure that is basketball? They were 23-9 last year.

Would it shock you that the same management team who built U o P is now running GCU?

GCU just added 2200 seats to their 3 year-old arena. More seats available for Aztec fans. Looks like it's time for a road trip.

I'll be there wearing my Aztec gear like I was in Tempe a few year ago. :-) I have to be like one of two fans actually excited about this game. Of course my sole reason is I live 30 minutes away.

Per Zeigler in the UT . Coach Fisher cited reasons for the game ,home town for Zylan Cheatham ,easy plane ride, he likes their coach , former Phoenix Sun Dan Mejerle . School has 55,000 students , picked to finish second this year in the WAC behind NMS , so good competition,
Also Aztecs will be on ESPNU taped practice , to be televised today at 3 and 9 ,among other schools
As reported Fox Sports SD has picked up 4 games 11.14 Northridge- (tune up for Utah ) , 11.20 Bakersfield (tune up for MAUI T ),12.22 Riverside , 12.27 Christian (tune up for MW )
the only MW games remaining without tip off times are at Fresno 1.3.2015 and home with BSU on 2.28.2015

GCU is in the WAC? Learn something new every day. Mike Vaught, formerly of SMU is their new AD too. They actually now have a pretty nice campus. It used to be garbage until they poured all that money they made with their online programs Not bad for being so new in D1. Their first year was last year when they lost in the first round of the CIT.

GCU is like the Bryman college of the desert. By the way the WAC is a shadow of what is used to be and the worst conference in MBB. I bet you can't name half the teams in that conference?

And according to John Oliver (HBO) they spend more money on advertising then teacher salaries.

I can't believe we wasted a game playing this no-named school. But POINT LOMA and SD Christian are HUGE names? at least GCU was 15-15 last year. Better than non-D-1 opponents

Better than non-D-1 opponents It's well documented why Fisher agrees to play these San Diego based schools. Show me where it's well documented why we play the no-named GCU school and I'll retract my statement.

No it's not, WAC is bad but it isn't close to the worst. The SWAC is the worst and it isn't changing anytime soon.
