Man, I am pumped about the coming season. Coach seems optimistic, which makes me REALLY excited!
Tid bits... Update about Malik Pope, he is doing non-opposition work. Probably wont be ready at the start of the season.... by the coaches choice. I like that Coach said they all worked hard on their outside shooting. Seems confident that they will find out the best choice, or choices at PG WSIII talked about making good decisions and constantly attacking JJ worked on his conditioning Coach said trying to work another man in the rotation and that no one will play 40 minutes

Winston doesn't look like a kid anymore. Winston is obviously stepping into a leadership roll and coach is doing a great job supporting/encouraging him.

Man, after listening to Steve and these two young men, it really becomes even more obvious what a marvelous molder and mentor of young men Steve Fisher is.
Any parent would have to be crazy not to want to turn their son over to him to help him attain his goals, be that athletically and/or to prepare him to be a contributing member of society.
I am so proud to have him associated with SDSU.

I bet JJ is going to have a great year. He was real good last year before he got hurt.
Winston looks like he's on a mission--but in control. I think he's gonna have a great year, too.
Can't freakin' wait!!!!!

I guess this answers "what's his name's" question about when Pope will be medically cleared to play. It is the coaches smartly taking it slow. He is not waiting for a doctor to sign him off.

How does NO ONE ask the follow up about possible redshirting?

Red shirting makes no sense in today's college landscape. Redshirts should only be used when a player transfers.

How does NO ONE ask the follow up about possible redshirting? 4 & 5 star recruits who only play 2 years ( max 3 ) for a university before declaring DO NOT REDSHIRT!

If they won't be healthy until late December or January and won't get any PT they sure might. Circumstantial yo. Bit early to anoint multiple guys early declarees too, considering none of our freshman have played a single minute of college ball and some lost time in high school. But I like your enthusiasm none the less.

Can't freakin' wait!!!!! It was good hearing from JJ that he worked hard getting in great shape. I heard from another source that he is indeed in great shape.

Coach Fisher as usual is playing things close to the vest, he knows he has another powerhouse but keeping reserved. On the other hand you have to love JJ and WS setting the goal at a Final 4 appearance. Last season was pretty close, the AZ game was very competitive.

Sure sounds as if Coach Fisher is still learning about the team . Not sure how much time they have been allowed to practice this fall. PG - per the guys at the PC - Zabo , Williams and AQ,will not be the scorer X was last year, more of a facilitator . Outside shooting was not a strong point of last year's team- no comment yet on this year's shooters. Coach will really try to expand the rotation this year . IMO Could easily have at least 10 guys playing 12-28 minutes . He scheduled a very strong OOC - knowing that is what determines our National ranking . Winston talking about his mental approach to the game , JJ'O needing to work on his conditioning . Zylan out until later part of December- will miss the toughest part of the OOC 11 / 18 - 12/17 . Malik no contact practice , will be brought along slowly . IMO there is no need to talk about red shirting until both players and coaches see where each player is at - if they can play doubt they will red shirt . But remember to red shirt it has to be an agreement of both the player and the coach . Q for those in the know - do you have to actually declare a player as a red shirt or are all players red shirting until they play in a game ? I do know you can start out as a red shirt and then move up to the active squad .
