Very bad. Frankly, short of sending 30,000 of our troops to Iraq, I don't know what will stop the IS. Please read some of the comments; several report experience with the Iraqi army. It's not pretty.

I agreed with many of the comments. So many acknowledge the mistakes of invading Iraq to begin with and the futility of planting democracy with the barrel of rifle. Before the invasion I told all how stupid it was to invade Iraq. We are still seeing results of that idiocy and will see them for at least another generation.

The whole Middle East is a big mess for sure. I think we will be involved in some way for many years. Though it's tempting to chose the path of withdrawal and semi-isolationism, I think in the end both parties will reach the conclusion that we can't just do nothing.

The trick will be to figure out what to do, militarily and/or non-militarily, is the way to go.

And we should recognize that the Middle East has been a mess for many decades. It's not just the fault of the U.S.

I have to agree that getting into these messes with no commitment to win is a disaster. We have been doing this kind of thing from Korea on. We need to make sure we destroy ISIS and not do a half baked job.
