Marty wouldn't have made a difference today.
As long as they've got Steve Crosby as special teams coach the Chargers are always going to be at a disadvantage.
Crosby's got to go...

Wow. What a meltdown. We (Colts) tried to help you out by winning ugly over Kansas City but you just wouldn't take advantage of it.
Usually when special teams stink it up it's a one-game anomoly. But Geez, the Chargers special teams are so consistantly bad. It's unreal how the Chargers keep losing to teams that aren't nearly as good as they are. Fortunately, for you, the AFC West isn't all that great....even though KC may be a little better than I thought. That automatic 6-0 start is such a distant memory now.

After the Seahawk game I thought he ought to be taken out and shot. Now, I take that back. He isn't worth the value of the lead. Since crucifixion has been looked down upon for several centuries... ...I say, "get a rope".

I heard on the radio after the game that Norv Turner, each of the years he has been Chargers head coach, has had the same 2-3 record after 5 games. I don't really know what to say about that--well, I do, but the comment would be removed.

Oh, and the Chargers definitely need to get rid of DUMB-rowski...
They wouldn't be any worse off playing with only 10 on defense.

But the talent he has to work with can't cover his butt forever. Anyone can see the direction it's going.

I, perhaps incorrectly, think he would. Marty was no-nonsense about fundamentals and focus, and he did not put up with turnover / special teams problems. This team has been fumble prone and unfocused in almost every game save for Arizona. Now, as we all know, Marty had his weaknesses too. I just sick of watching the team shoot themselves in the foot over and over again. Hate it.

I am sick of - and warned about - former Redskins coaches. Never Again! Who next? Jim Zorn?

The special teams coach needs to be gone. No other way around it.

The special teams has been disgusting. If you have a great coach that no one listens to, he needs to be gone. I don't really care how respected he is and how great other coaches think he is, if his players aren't following his game plan and he can't do anything about it he is effectively useless. Rivers and Gates are putting up record book numbers, the defense is playing well, this team should be undefeated right now.

Funny. Marty on 1090 AM this morning Oct, 19. Sounds like S and BR are trying to get Marty to bury AJ and Norv. Marty not biting, but admits there were major communication problems. Says he tried to work it out but AJ was not willing. Not telling the whole story. Again.

Says he tried to work it out but AJ was not willing. Not telling the whole story. Again. I'm not surprised. I don't think many coaches would get along with AJ unless he catered to him. AJ even hand picked Norv's D-Co in Ron Rivera. How often do you see GMs picking the assistant coaches? And you think Norv has the locker room respect? Hardly.

sports.espn.go.com/nfl/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=2763623This breaks down the situation. Spanos fired the wrong guy, but it was hard to tell that at the time. You guys remember the stories that Marty wanted to replace Cam with his son, Brian Schottenheimer, when Cam went to the Dolphins? AJ balked at that, which led to a big disagreement. Brian Schottenheimer has done pretty well for himself in New York, as the Jets OC, and is highly regarded.
