What does it say about this coaching staff that during the past two seasons the starting QB regresses? We all were upbeat about Dingwell but he came back from the offseason and was awful. On comes QK who played well last season and he too regresses the following season. I sense a trend Since this is QK's second go around, the opposition now has the book on him. Once the trick plays are exercised, he has to go back to traditional play and that's where they know his limitations. Toledo has to make a choice. Either limp along with QK or see if experience proves Bawden is the real deal. Does it seem to you that Toledo uses his "special" plays, and then never goes back to them? He used the two in the first series, then I don't remember him ever going back to something similar. I mean a variation off the "special" play. I would put more blame on the sideline, for QK's issues getting plays off.

The defense did not play bad at all (except for along streak of bad tackling) Mannion is a first rounder the offense was awful. NO Ezell and QK is not making the throws he did last year, its obvious his arm is shot. Rocky just ignored it again like with Adam. However we will likely go toa fifth bowl in a row and those of you who think Rocky will be gone are on Moroccan Hash. 106 yards passing wow. QK has two TD's six pics. Yep. After the first drive, the offense was horseplop, thereby forcing the defense to make stop after stop after stop after stop to try to keep us in the game. But then one would actually have to have a modicum of football knowledge to understand that and many here don't. I generally have issues using trick plays early in the game. To me it sends a message to your team that they can't play straight up. Mannion looks like the real deal, he will be earning a paycheck in the NFL next year. The worst thing about this loss is it will depress ticket sales at home. The Aztecs haven't been able to create a "buzz" of excitement in this town and people in San Diego are likely to just tune them out, even if they make a run in conference.

I'd differ with you only to the extent to which your comment implies that we ARE able to play them "straight up". We have manifestly demonstrated that we are NOT able, and the coaches know it. And to your other point about "buzz", someone else, smarter than I, said---and I paraphrase, "The Marshall Faulk days were the last time SDSU was relevant." Ronnie Hillman gave a temporary spark, as did Hoke, but the flame flickered out with Long's stumbling into the HC slot.

BTW, I checked and Mannion's Rivals rating coming out was 5.8, or just a tenth of a point below being a 5-star recruit. However, the only offer he had was from Oregon State and he didn't go there as a local since he's a Bay Area guy. Since he committed eight months before signing day and he's a 4-year starter, the conclusion to be drawn is OSU flat out guaranteed that if he signed, the starting job was his to lose from day one. Am I the only one who thinks SDSU should consider doing the same in 2016 if Rodrigues and Bawden don't pan out next year?
