Better not lose this one or it's major egg on the face! 2014 = 10-2 2015 = 13-0 Touche' I know, but I've been a fan from the day I saw that Rivals Statlist. I suspect he was doing a large for Long, at DE. He seems VERY durable and he's going to kick some major Gluts.

After that fine showing against EIU last season I just want a win against NAU. An EIU here and an NAU there, EI, EI, Oh! Just win!

Can't wait for the complaints when we don't win by 21. I hate spreads like this. With UNC coming up a week from Saturday, it makes no sense to unnecessarily show any new wrinkles in the offense so I honestly don't see us covering the 21 unless NAU turns the ball over a lot and our defense created just 19 TOs in 13 games last year.

Better not lose this one or it's major egg on the face! Not saying we'll be the one to do so but there usually are a couple or more teams that loose to FCS. How many was it last year alone? Just checked, 8 alone for one week: www.sbnation.com/college-football/2013/9/1/4681824/fcs-football-upsets-fbs-2013-week-1"In all, eight FBS teams lost to FCS opponents: Georgia State (Samford), Iowa State (Northern Iowa), Kansas State (North Dakota State), No. 25 Oregon State (Eastern Washington), San Diego State (Eastern Illinois), South Alabama (Southern Utah), UConn (Towson), and USF (McNeese State). That's a new record for a single weekend." Georgia st and South Alabama just moved up so they technically shouldn't count but look at the rest. Ranked Ore st even.

Depth chart just released for Saturday and due to nagging injuries, some younger guys have to step up in starting roles. i like it. it could be a big confidence booster for those younger guys to lead a victory if they can.

Out of curiosity, I checked my copy of Phil Steele's to find that we were -14 against EIU last year. To jog folks' memory, they beat us by 3 TDs. The difference between NAU and EIU is that EIU had a NFL duel at QB Jimmy Garoppolo and WR Erik Lora. Last time I check they were both playing pro ball this summer. Garoppolo is starts the last pre-season game for New England and was a 2nd round pick. Erik Lora was an undrafted FA playing for the Vikings.
No, it takes more than 2 guys to beat you. Toledo was new, but 19 points should have been enough to beat an FCS team. It's just that EIU threw an unexpected offensive scheme at our defense that totally puzzled Rocky and his defense. I'm sure the NAU coach knows we have safety issues so he'll exploit it someway. I think we might see a close game with no holding back on our part.

Turnovers cost us that game. 5 of 'em. Special teams failure sealed it

I'm still worried about our secondary, no matter what the score will be. Oldie Out Stan has not played since the first week so they have had time to adjust. Naim will be fine and Pierre will really help on pass defense.I suspect by week four they will be fine.If our front four is dominant enough they can afford to simplify the schems of the safety.

But at this point it no longer matters....except for that it's likely fresh in the minds of the returning players and coaches which should be a good thing.

Yeah, EIU had a very good QB, and a team that wanted to show their stuff. Not saying that will happen too often, but we just got caught by a team that played out of their minds. Plus, we had 5 turnovers which will kill any good team. They out rushed, and out passed us, so what can you say? NAU maybe be ranked in the FCS poll, but they have lost their top rusher, and they don't have the defense they had last year either. We should be able to beat them as long as we don't have any key injuries, or bad turn overs.

BTW - the EIU team has an NFL Quarterback Jimmy Grappolo who was a second round pick by New England and his starting the 4th preseason game, Erik Lora his target is playing with the Minn Vikings, trust me NAU doesn't have an NFL duel on the team as EIU did.

This is true and they are both good players but we go against nfl type players in our own league with Carr and his receiver (can't remember his name right now). I honestly haven't looked at the NAU roster so I can't comment on them. But I'm just going off of what I know from our team.

Hope we don't play down to our competition. I think we sometimes do that, but I'm not sure!

I just want a win, some solid defense and to not pass the ball 60+ times But, if they do pass 60 times, and we complete 45, and get over 500 yards passing along with 4-6 TD's I don't mind that at all. Of course, if we add another 200 yards + rushing that will be great!
