VANIMAL (Twitter handle) Uconn bosters are hitting pretty hard with every other day tweets to the kid. Fisher dropped by Bosco a couple of days ago to watch the kid train. Kevin Ollie was there a couple days before. Anyone who Tweets a 16 year old kid begging him to go the school you root for is creepy........ and that's putting it mildly.

Do not think we have forgotten about him . Neither have other schools looking at him Arizona, Washington , Kansas, USC , UCLA , MSU,UCONN . Have not seen what visits he has taken.

As you point out he does not even have us on his radar , seems to be looking at the PAC schools for now . Has he taken visits to the ones he is looking at , if so on to the guys who are interested .

It is only 4 people, so keep that in mind. Also, the recruiting predictor on kenpom.com (updated March 5th) has SDSU in the lead at 37%, Cal 26%, UofA 18%, UConn 15%.

Wouldn't a guy from the LA area at least drop in for a visit if he was interested ? Unless it has gone undetected .

I like vance jackson, but isn't keith smith a very similar type player? Both lengthy wings that can shoot. Seems to me we already have the guy we want, but more is always better.

It looks to me that Smith is more of a SG who also plays SF, and Jackson is more of a SF who can also play some SG. They're both the size for SF but have good ball skills and shooting to stretch the floor. They could definitely be on the court at the same time (especially the style the Aztecs play)... they don't have to replace each other for the same position

Aztec coaches do prefer talented , athletic guys that can play multiple positions . Get the best talent on the court , especially when fouls occur and guys have to sit or injuries . Look how many guys on the current team ,play a variety of positions . Most of the guards and forwards can do it . Adds to your value as a player . Do not know very much about Jackson's ability to play D , as we know if you do not play D , you may not want to play here .

When you see our style of defense live, then introduce a player who is a step slow, or doesn't play with the same type of intensity, it becomes blatantly obvious (see malik pope earlier on in the year). Defense is based on will and effort, some have got it, and some don't. Jackson reminds me of a guy who can seriously fill it up, but may not sell out all the time defensively. I trust our staff to evaluate how his game would mesh with our style.

We may not like it, but some recruits may see us as a" light blue " not a true blue blood program ,think they can get a better offer. As the coaches have also said , not every recruit fits the Aztec program - Defense first. So they' pass 'on us or we may decide it is not a fit . Have heard Coach Hudson say , why waste the recruits or our time if we do not see a match for both .

I've seen no evidence to suggest he is or isn't considering SDSU. I can't remember him doing any interviews recently or seeing on twitter that he visited anywhere recently. So maybe relax, he might be considering us, he also might not be focusing on his recruitment. The last interview I remember him doing was in December where he said UConn, USC, Cal, and AZ was recruiting him the hardest. As for his game he is a big time scorer, one of the best in the west coast and can really shoot. He'd start as a freshman I think if he were to come here.

We are one of the trendiest programs in the country and have been getting a lot more attention from big name prospects due to sustained success, tourney appearances, our atmosphere and location. That's the kind of stuff that makes you a blue blood some day. Never thought I'd see us as a tier two for that matter. You're right, some players don't fit the defensive mold, but I think we're commanding more pull than ever and soon might be on the tier one recruiting level, blue blood or not!

SF and # 30 ranked Vance Jackson said that he won't start cutting his list down until July and mentioned offers from the Wildcats, Huskies and Golden Bears plus UCLA, USC, California, Arizona State, San Diego State, Washington, Gonzaga and Tulsa. More recently, Michigan State and Syracuse have started to sniff around.
Gonzaga offered Jackson a spot today. PAC, Zag or Aztec?

Vance was a guy I wanted badly, but re-confirming what we've already known I guess, he never really seemed to have much interest. I hope Tony Bland gets him.

You have to ask yourself why is it that UNLV is always in the running [and seems to get a few] for a few elite recruits every year, despite their record? What are they doing, what do they have that SDSU does not have. We still do pretty good in recruiting, but at UNLV's level.

In the 90s it was about fancy cars, alligator shoes, and Tarnkanian golden handshakes. However, Tark was never punished by the NCAA. But where there is smoke, there is fire. I assume some of the same elements of Sin City play into recruiting tactics.
