It would be surprising if nobody profited (and here I mean financially) when the Feds fiddle with the U.S. economy. Picking winners and losers is what collectivists do. It's what they think they are in power to do.
Whether ObamaCare ends up being a plus or a minus for the U.S. citizen (and in this case I mean financially and medically) is quite another matter. There has been a huge amount of disruption of the health care system with a not terribly impressive amount of improvement, and all at a very large cost.
Bottom line: There were better ways that the government could have improved our health care system, and at far less cost. ObamaCare was a poorly planned, way too complex, way too comprehensive mess of conflicting features with grave unintended consequences. Only people consumed by their sense of superioirty would not have asked themselves this simple question; Do we really want to redesign the whole health care system, one sixth of the U.S. economy, all at once, with no support from the approximately one half of the population who strongly disagree with our approach to governance? Hey, are we really that smart and wise?
People who consider themselves the anointed ones, and who sneer at the vast majority of their fellow citizens, believe that asking those questions is a waste of time. Of course we know best! Or perhaps the creators of ObamaCare are just not that smart, after all.
As a matter of fact, no one is that smart. That's why the government should move very slowly and with some degree of trepidation when they attempt to tell the rest of us how to live and how to allocate our resources.

PS: Of course, I have not even brought up the dishonest way the ACA was sold to the American people: the Louisiana Purchase, the Florida Flim Flam, the exemptions, etc., etc. And then there were the direct lines; "If you like your doctor . . ."

I don't think anyone who can think would like Obama Kare if it was explained as follows:
Here are the 10,535 pages of ObamaCare condensed to 4 sentences...
As humorous as this sounds.....every last word of it is absolutely TRUE! 1. In order to insure the uninsured, we first have to uninsure the insured. 2. Next, we require the newly uninsured to be re-insured. 3. To re-insure the newly uninsured, they are required to pay extra charges to be re-insured. 4. The extra charges are required so that the original insured, who became uninsured, and then became re-insured, can pay enough extra so that the original uninsured can be insured, which will be free of charge to them. This, ladies and gentlemen, is called "redistribution of wealth" or, by its more common name, SOCIALISM…

And I think that anyone who couldn't get health care before ObamaCare thinks it is great. I know that my son would have lost his health insurance when he turned 21 except for the part of the law that said he has to be covered until age 26. And since you dislike 'SOCIALISM' so much then you should refuse your Social Security and Medicare benefits. Hypocrite.

Well, go ahead and help him out but keep your hands out of my pocket. At least you recognize SS and Medicare as socialism.

There was a segment on TV last night about very low income people who were having to do without health insurance because the subsidy did not kick in until they had paid a huge amount in out-of-pocket expenses. The monthly premium may have been okay, but the deductible amount was astronomical, at least for a poor person.
How is this achieving the stated goals of ObamaCare? Seems to me that bragging about how many uninsured are now insured was all the Democrats really cared about. Little emphasis was put on quality of care, lack of choice in participating doctors and hospitals, etc.
It will be a long, long time before we have recovered from this Frankenstein monster of a law. Half the political establishment (the GOP) wants it gone and replaced. The other half (the Democrats) is loathe to admit they made a huge mistake. The Dems would have to eat a huge helping of crow by agreeing the ACA is a flee-bitten dog.
The only good thing that possibly could come from ObamaCare is the lesson that the government, especially the Feds, should be more cautious when it toys with the idea of taking charge of a significant portion of the U.S. economy.

I should add that it would have been much more open and honest to have told the American people that insuring several million citizens now without coverage could only be done by raising taxes. A serious argument can be made that a number of other approaches (tort reform is one) could have been tried before essentially taking over the whole health care system, but let's leave that aside for the moment.
It's obvious that the President's claim that the law would insure millions more, not hurt quality of care, and would cost less was so absurd as to cause laughter. The problem is, there is nothing funny about this law.
ObamaCare is perhaps history's most telling example of kludgocracy. It's too long, too complicated, too dishonest, and creates way too many nasty unintended consequences.
And the Democrats own it.

Obama and the Democrats screwed up by trying to work with the Republicans and not institute "Medicare for All" when they had the chance.
