Assume we can expect better this year. Why aren't the two signees from the offseason on the depth chart? Donny Hageman and Barron(sp?)

They usually don't put them on the depth chart until they've actually practiced. It'd be kind of F'd up to put a transfer or frosh above a returning player if they haven't earned it. Both of these guys seem to be the real deal though.

Watched donny practice the last few weeks. He looks pretty good, kicked a 52 yarder with room to spare. Of course that is without a defense charging on him.

I've never, in all the years I've watched football, seen a worse kicking performance than last year's Aztecs. Never. I mean, legendary bad. If I hadn't witnessed it, I wouldn't believe it. When was the last successful FG attempt of the season last year? In September? Seriously! Can't get any worse, right?

Can't get any worse, right? sitting in Qualcomm last year, there were so many times we wished the Aztecs had had just an average field goal kicker that we knew Rocky would have to make it a priority in the off-season... IIRC, it was the difference in the Fresno game, among others...

Practice starts next week , so depth charts will not mean anything until or If the coaches decide to release one . Even then are there any coaches who may use them to motivate their guys ?

I have a hunch that by the time conference season rolls around, Baron is going to be our PK.

Without saying anything more, keep the name John McGrory in mind!

I have a hunch that by the time conference season rolls around, Baron is going to be our PK. Tell us why oh former SMF. Experience? Kicking is at least as much mental as physical. Expectations were huge for McMorrow and it appears he couldn't handle it. (That's no knock on the young man at all. I stopped playing baseball after having a terrible senior year in HS based on huge pressure I felt from a very good junior year. Still think I could have been a very good JUCO second baseman but by that point my heart was no longer in it.) Since Chris Sailor, THE kicking guru, has rated Hageman as the 3rd best PK among the 2014 recruiting crop, expectations could be immense for him, too, so I think perch may be on to something in adding McCrory to the list of possibles. The above having been said, I favor nobody and literally hope that the best man wins. God knows SDSU is due to finally find a decent kicker, to say nothing of a GOOD one.

And to think, at one point in the season we were 8-8 in FG and 6-6 in PAT. Followed up the hot start by going 0-8 with I think 6 missed PAT. I could maybe kinda try to say that of the 0-8 FGA, only one was from inside the red zone...but 6 missed PAT?!?!! That means we had the two worst kickers in all of D1 with 20 or more PAT attempts. That's unbelievable.
