The two sides have been shooting at each other for more than a week. A 12 hour cease fire brokered by Egypt was immediately broken by Hamas. Both sides are shooting rockets at each other non stop and Israel is considering a ground invasion.

If it wasn't for the press, Hamas would be dying to stop this thing. They think they can gain some advantage in world (and local) view by getting hammered by Isreal.

There is no good news about this mess. I guess if I were to predict what will happen it will be another nervous cease fire in a few days which will only be broken again at some time.

Tragic, but we shouldn't get involved in any way.

Tragic, but we shouldn't get involved in any way. We give 3B+/yr in military aid to Israel, yet don't even mention Palestinians in FUBAR Resolutions such as H.Res. 657. I'd say we're already involved.

Israel needs to go in and clean out Hamas once and for all. All that money spent for expensive underground concrete tunnels instead of roads, schools and education. Hamas doesn't want peace, so I wouldn't stop my mission to wipe them out.
