For those of us that admit to not knowing . Are the football players who "choose" to, involved in conditioning ? When do the fall workouts officially begin ? Before we ask about fall, shouldn't we get through summer first? College football: NCAA changes rules to allow mandatory summer workouts newsok.com/college-football-ncaa-changes-rules-to-allow-mandatory-summer-workouts/article/4469474"Major college football coaches can now require their players to participate in up to eight hours per week of summer activities. The NCAA amended its bylaws in late December to allow such mandatory activity, which can include conditioning, weight training and up to two hours of film study per week. In the past, any organized team workouts in the summer were supposed to be entirely voluntary. How “voluntary” those workouts really were, though, has long been a subject of controversy. The coaching staff wasn’t allowed to have any contact with the players during the summer months, and any lack of participation by players wasn’t supposed to be punishable."

Just for your info I had checked with Stefanie Loh because I wanted to know when fall camp opened myself. According to her Aztecs start on August 4, so we are now only 30 days away from the official start of Football! She is on facebook, and does a great job covering our Aztecs!

#53
The year 1947. The Aztecs were7-3-1, and played a team called Hardin-Simmons (from Texas) in their first ever Bowl game. The Harbor Bowl played at Balboa Stadium in San Diego on January 1st, 1948.
Unfortunately, this team from Texas was a small college power house, and completely dominated the Aztecs while winning 53-0. Too early for me, I hadn't been born yet. If, nothing else at least the Aztecs get their first experience in a Bowl game. You might want to check with Tom Ables for more info on the game. He was probably there.

Probably not the best place to post this but I just noticed that the UNC game is no longer listed as a ESPNews game on the mothership's website. Maybe it's getting bumped up to 2???
