Nor yours, but that's besides the point. Name ONE positive thing that can come from such a ****en dumb **s statement towards a kid that just made one of the most important decisions of his life, to be an Aztec, and have some random person question his athleticism?
Come on, name me one positive thing...
What if he reads this board? Think he would feel good? Think it would motivate him to be a better wide receiver?

Come on, name me one positive thing... What if he reads this board? Think he would feel good? Think it would motivate him to be a better wide receiver? First, I wasn't addressing negative comments about high school athletes. My point was that MD commented about something outside of this board, not you personally. But instead, you commented about him personally. Bringing unbidden aggression toward another poster, is where I have a problem in general, unless someone brings it first. But after some thought, you've undoubtedly heard Nietzsche's line, "That which does not kill us makes us stronger"? I think this very much applies to anyone who wishes to succeed---at anything.

Wow. I really struck a nerve with my incredibly mean and borderline evil comment about his lack of athleticism.

Agree with md about the athleticism but on ASR, Ruben Meza raves about his hands. Possession receiver. "Won't you stay home, Jack Bailey, won't you stay home . . ." Oh, you date yourself with that lyric SGF. Few here know that from the ...............40s I think. I'm a little surprised that we already have five commitments from WRs. Why? Plenty already in RsF world. Enough already. Let's get some more OL and DLs.

So, it's okay to make personal on a kid that just committed to SDSU? I guess I am guilty of sticking up for the guy, I'll stick by that. Still, I ask; list one positive aspect of such comments? So you are saying if the he reads mean spitited and ignorant things about himself, that somehow will motivate him to be stronger? I guess I just don't get that. It's not the general spirit I'd be publicly in favor of. Nietzsche huh.... Man..... This is San Diego.

Yea, I do get upset when people pick on kids (especially Aztecs), I'll take that label any day.

Doesn't look like much of an athlete, I hope I'm wrong and he can produce at this level. Looks can be decieving. If only you saw Nick Tenhaeff his first semester on campus. He was a slim skater boy. You wouldn't think in a million years that he was a d1 football player. But, that changed obviously.

He is a good athlete in my opinion, more importantly he is a football player. Keep your guys with blistering speed that drop ten tds a year, we have seen that. Jack will go over the middle catch the freaking ball for a first down. He is not going to drop it in the end zone. I am more than happy to have him.he blocks down field,in our offense that a real must.Steve Largent was not much of an athlete either he just ran routs and caught balls.

To honor JYP's passing, I will ask his question..."who else offered?" A perfect tribute and may I add "he looks 5'9 to me

Enjoyed reading in the article that the thought is out there that Toledo may be running an offense that does push passing . Most offenses are going that way and it helps attract QB's ( Oregon transfer ) . That will be important going forward . Would also help if we could get some LT 's to go with the QB's and the variety of WR's- need the burners & possession receivers to really open up the offense

You wouldn't think in a million years that he was a d1 football player. But, that changed obviously. I knew tenehaeff was going to be a baller after watching a few clips of him playing running back. He had plenty of athletic ability and just needed some time in the weight room. Size can be added a lot easier than athleticism can be gained.

It would appear that maturity and adulthood are going to be forever out of your grasp. But then, what should we expect from an onion? By the way, that is a rhetorical--with a hint of a pedagogical-- question, but not quizzical.

How about we agree there are at least 3 or more aspects at play here ... Size, Skill, Ability Instinct and Attitude to name 5. Size: can sometimes be affected in terms of bulking up or getting lean, but height is pretty much what it is (with some rare exceptions) Skill: (Good Hands, Quick Feet, Solid Tackle etc.) Some players got it, others can work at it and for some it just never develops Ability: Athleticism (Not to be confused with skill) Fast and/or Strong, usually refers to athletic ability -- often describes players lacking position skills -- i.e. a WR without good hands can be remade into a CB or a RB that can't hold on to the ball could be a good LB Instinct: "IQ" ... may not be the the most skilled or athletic but makes up for it by knowing where to be and what to do before others can react. i.e. not the tallest or quickest CB, but has a nose for the ball and is always in the right place to break-up plays Attitude: Team player, focused, work ethic ... Players have these aspects to differing degrees and it takes a combination of several of them to be successful -- and a player can definitely make up for a lack of any one aspect with an abundance of another (or others) ...
