Had we finished the war with all of the transition plan Gen. Austin had in place, the professionals would have had a better chance at succeeding. Instead, Obama merely stopped the transition, forced the retrograde and left the OSC - I with only 170 people, useless.
Remember, I was in Baghdad at that time.

Another ten or so and everything would have been fine. Right.

Another ten or so and everything would have been fine. Right. Sometimes I find it hard to believe that you can be either that thick or that politically brain washed you can't see what has happened. You can argue all you want about what we should have done in the first place and it does not change that what we did in not finishing the job was criminal.

Looks like ol' Joe Bite-me didn't get the memo back when things were looking good. This administration was poised to take great credit for a magnificent success in 2010. Now that they have hosed it up, well... BOOOOSH's fault. You libtards are such two faced phonies. "I am very optimistic about -- about Iraq. I mean, this could be one of the great achievements of this administration. You're going to see 90,000 American troops come marching home by the end of the summer. You're going to see a stable government in Iraq that is actually moving toward a representative government.
"I spent -- I've been there 17 times now. I go about every two months -- three months. I know every one of the major players in all of the segments of that society. It's impressed me. I've been impressed how they have been deciding to use the political process rather than guns to settle their differences."

If anyone should be in jail it is the incompetents who could not figure out how to withdraw without leaving chaos behind. There was a ruthless government headed by Saddam there before we went in. Now it has spiraled down into sect warfare because we could not figure out how to leave. That is on Obama.

We ended the war, we didn't finish it. Big difference. Gen Austin, Lion 6, had a transition plan to develop professional officers and enlisted corps, train on the gear we gave them and let them grow before we left them on their own. They were ok when we instructed them on Advise and Assist missions but they were still about 2 years away.
Instead, we just left them out there on their own, unprepared. Here is the result I predicted would happen in 2011.

My search terms were "training the Iraqi in 2005". This optimistic article on how well the Iraqi army was doing was the first hit. We were there for 8 years or so and we were training the army for most of that time. Why would anyone think more years of training would have made a difference? It did not in Vietnam. I would have thought we have learned a lesson there. Guess not. www.longwarjournal.org/archives/2005/10/training_the_ir_1.php#

Sent from my SM-G900V using proboards Typical evasion. Frankly, having followed the prior administration talking points I am surprised there was still fighting. Bush told us the mission was accomplished. Cheney told us there were just a few dead enders left. Who were we fighting? I was told the Iraqis would be throwing flowers at us. Since you were there, tell us why Bush and Cheney were so wrong.
