Washington fans have always been Kool-Aid drinkers. Read the comments from the Husky fans on the article they are all critical of the "sobering" comment and highly complimentary of SDSU My favorite line in the comments section of that article is from Husky#1fan: "I really really hate to say it but WE are not in their class." It has been great watching this program go from a recent success to a sustained success. While I am not 100% confident we can out recruit UW for premier talent (they do bring in 5 star players), I am loving the respect that is building around this program. I look forward to more big wins (the W @ Kansas was glorious) and regular trips to the tourney. Welcome Jeremy!!! Go Aztecs!!!

If you look at the scholarship situation, I believe we will only have room for three recruits: a SG, SF and PF would be an ideal class, and it looks like Hemsley just took the SG spot. If we take four then it perhaps is a strong signal that Shepard is thinking of going pro no matter what happens in the coming season. Shepard is deceived if he thinks just because he wants to "go pro", suddenly means NBA teams will be scrambling to get him. At best, Shepard will be playing in Europe somewhere, perhaps after that, graduate to the "D-League." His overall game in college so far has been mediocre...professional ballplayers would eat he and his game ALIVE... sweet, more bashing of winston. dude isn't even safe on someone else's thread. smh

Another recruit stolen from New Mexico et al....it's too funny. Surprised that they have not come whining yet. I see the Washington fans whining. It all brings a BIG smile to me lips! I don't think we ever had a chance with Hemsley, he's a good player but not many lobo fans expected a commitment from him. Now if Grimes goes to SDSU you will see some unhappy lobo fans and hear some "whining." Grimes is going to SDSU unless they sign Cameron Walker. 247sports.com/Player/Nate-Grimes-36421

They included word-for-word all the 'insider' content from ESPN's scouting page in the article...that can't be good (or allowed). Wow.

From the Seattle Times article: "Still, it’s sobering to believe the new normal is a basketball world where a Mountain West team routinely trumps Pac-12 teams on the court and in recruiting." Jeez.....such hubrus... This is just dumb...he basically list many reason why SDSU is a desired destination and then makes that comment. Also, you know who else also out-recruits most Pac-12 schools - UNLV, another MWC school. What about Gonzaga, a WCC school that gets a lot of potential Pac-12 players. UNLV/SDSU/Gonzaga are bigger than their conference when it comes to recruiting so the author is really missing the point.

Here is one quote from the ESPN 'insider' article on this commitment that really stood out.
'The Aztecs are arguably as attractive as his other suitors to prospects near and far due to their NCAA tournament success and outstanding coaching staff.'

But, if he should ever develop a consistent outside shot, make FTs, and can play the PG; he would be a good candidate to play in the NBA. The same could be said of Hershey Bar Helen.

You can add to that: Great location, great fans, great arena, great facilities, and great teammates. Using "as attractive" is as wrong as saying Scarlett Johansson is as attractive as Hilary Clinton.

In light of the past 5 years BB results I believe that we will see the SDSU "coaching" mentioned with increasing frequency. Five consecutive MM appearances, two Sweet 16s, one trip to the 32, over one hundred wins when leading with five minutes to play, 30+ consecutive wins against CA teams, dominance in overtime games, whipping PAC 12 teams except AZ sometimes, winning @ KU, having 3 guys in the NBA and X on the NBA bubble clearly demonstrates that coaching really does make a difference in team results and player development. A player that wants to go to the tourney and have the opportunity to develop his talent to the highest level, hoping to have a shot at an NBA career, should be taking a very hard look @ SDSU. Who is doing it better in the west? I would not consider the few programs that can consistently get 4 & 5 star recruits as doing it better.

Then he will leave early for the draft. We will then offer four, with Thompson filling the other guard spot. We would then add two "bigs" or we may sign three and hold one open until the end of the season to see what transfers open up.

He just appears athletically limited from the tape I've seen. But then again, Tim Shelton was all kinds of limited and still an extremely important piece of the 2012 team. Cam Walker would fill that 3 spot nicely, however.

Evaluate the talent we have this summer to see what exactly we may need for 2015-16 and going forward . Even if we have 4 scholarships only take guys we really think will become starters within two years . As we have seen Aztecs may want to hold a scholarship for a possible transfer .

Honestly, the Aztecs should only take 3 HS players and not 4. Why should they try to force Winston Shepard into the NBA if he really isn't ready. If he does declare why don't they just take the best transfer?

You do realize he was second in every major statistical category last season for a team that was ranked in the top 5 and reached the sweet 16? You consider that mediocre? Also, While Shepard could very well end up in Europe (which is no shame by the way many of those Spanish league players can make a great salary while traveling the world and playing ball) To say "at best Shepard will be playing in Europe is just wrong. Shepard's Ceiling is a starter in the NBA. I'm not saying he will end up reaching that ceiling but given his physical tools that is without question where his ceiling is. In many cases guys drafted to the league are not drafted for what they are as much as where their ceiling is. He has all of the physical tools of an NBA wing and I am confident that with the coaching staff we have they will get the most out of him and we will see him even better than last year. I say even better because the kid was flat out really good last year. Was he a perfect player? Absolutely not but he provided big plays and important play for much of the season.

I just hope WSIII stays. The longer he stays, the better prepared he will be for the next level.
...and that's all I have to say about that.
