We need to parlay the Carolina game into a possible HnH. I talked to Sterk in Philly, and it seemed that he had some kind of connection with UNC. Them and KU seem to be the only teams with prestige that do HnH's with non power schools. The UNC game is a football game... I am more than aware of that. But it means that there is already communication between the two schools. It gives a better forum to discuss having an HnH basketball game. Understand my drift?

Kinda but I don't think basketball scheduling is made any easier just because we scheduled in football. Networking works. It's how the Cuse game happened, if you remember. So if two AD's are already chatting, yes, it is intrinsically logical that it will be easier to broach the subject. Carolina has done a home and home with LBSU, and did a home and neutral LV with the Rebels. IU, Cuse, dook, and UK are not going to do a home and home with us. It just will not happen. MSU, UNC, KU will take more risky home and homes. It would be good to get some Big Ten and ACC teams to bite. I would assume they know they probably have big alumni bases in SoCal, it at least makes it semi-attractive.

Very important for the coaches to line up some quality OOC games for the Aztecs ,while they are at the coaches meetings . Maui T should give the team at least two good games maybe three - would hope we are not in same bracket as Arizona. BYU, Pitt, K-State were also MM teams , maybe 1 of them in the second round . Game at Washington .Home with USD. Would like the MW and WCC to set up challenge ,doubt Pac 12 will, or maybe AAC. Would game with UNMS be a possibility, or ... other PAC schools, , Cal Poly, UCSB, , San Marcos,

Fisher wants home and home games so they come to play at your house too like Arizona and Kansas do. It is more of a sign of respect to have SDSU play those games not fly across the country for a game and not get a good home game in return. After how his teams have performed the last few years I don't think it would be difficult to get some top team to play us home & home. Wooden is dead, of course, and when he was at his pinnacle San Diego State did not have Viejas, or a team. At least not one that could compete with UCLA even if half their team stayed home. The upper management of UCLA is afraid of us, and doesn't want to get embarrassed seeing their great UCLA teams getting humbled by those nasty Aztecs! ( like we did in December 2012!) So, don't look for any upcoming schedule with them right now. Fisher gets his schedule together in the off season, and usually puts together a good schedule. But, it may take a while. He has been known to do it late.

Looking for the DC tour. Georgetown, Mason, GW. Maybe get American U as a gimme in there. One week, one hotel, easy day... Skip Maryland or switch them with one of the George's...

One scheduling device that isn't used enough is triangles.
Example
Aztecs @ Coloardo SMU
SMU @ Aztecs Colorado
Colorado Aztecs @ SMU
All 3 teams get a home and away against good teams and have no future obligations.

The triangle can be squared. 2 teams from the MWC and 2 teams from the PAC-12 agree to all play the teams from the other conference. Each team gets a home and road game.
Example
Colorado New Mexico @ SDSU
Oregon @ New Mexico SDSU
New Mexico Oregon @ Colorado
SDSU @ Oregon Colorado

A few years ago we had a pentagon. 5 teams from 5 conferences each played the other teams in 2 home and 2 road games.
All these scheduling devices gets around the big problem of home and homes - who gets to play at home first.

You played at UCLA and at Colorado last year. I know the UCLA wasn't a home and home, was the Colorado game? I hope we pony up some more bucks and buy some decent home games. UCSB would be a good start.

After that no clue.

Just please don't schedule St. Katherine's again, Fish. At least not until they establish themselves as a legitimate college program.

Here's Cincinnati's outlook for next year. Possible 2014-15 starting five: G: Troy Caupain G: Ge'Lawn Guyn F: Jermaine Sanders F: Shaquille Thomas F: Jermaine Lawrence
Who it loses: The Bearcats lose their top three scorers and rebounders. Sean Kilpatrick is the team’s heart and soul. He was their leading scorer and one of the best players in the AAC. Kilpatrick leaves Cincinnati as one of the country's best scorers and clutch players. He can't be replaced. Justin Jackson is the team's backbone. He was their leading defender and rebounder and provided great energy on both ends of the floor. Titus Rubles is Mr. Toughness for coach Mick Cronin. Rubles is the ultimate glue guy. Seven-footer David Nyarsuk also departs.
Who it adds: Size was what the Bearcats were looking for, and it's what they got. Gary Clark is a combo forward who is best as a skilled 4-man. He is undersized but has some toughness and is productive. He is very good inside 17 feet and has a chance of playing a lot immediately. Quadri Moore is a combo post who can score some inside but is a good face-up shooter who can knock down 3-pointers. He can stretch the floor from the 4 or 5 position. Coreontae DeBerry is a big-bodied, low-post player. He is an OK scorer but a solid rebounder and interior defender. All three players have a good chance of getting solid minutes next season.
What it means for next season: Almost 60 percent of the team’s scoring and 50 percent of its rebounding depart after this season. Those numbers will need to be replaced. Returnees will need to step up in order for Cincinnati to remain successful. It will be a rebuilding season. Look for the newcomers to fill roles, and each one should see playing time. All three newcomers are frontcourt players and should definitely help overcome the rebounding numbers. However, the points may be a little harder to replace.
Trend: Down. There is too much offense and too many significant role players to replace. The Bearcats could surprise, though. The team has solid athletes and has the potential to be another great defensive unit. Cronin always seems to find a way.
