In 4 games, 56 carries for 341 yards, an average of 6.1 yards per carry. Not too bad.

Why did he suck in sd? We has good o lineman, we had a good passing game. He sucks because we didn't resign Lorenzo Neal? I don't buy it. I don't blame aj for letting lt go.

On topic, LT played like crap in his last two years here. He averaged just over 3 yards per carry and was almost totally ineffective. He hit 30 years old and seemed to be out of gas.
Sometimes a change of venue can improve performance. Maybe nagging injuries just took that long to heal - who knows? It was clear that for two years his performance was below the league average, and far below his own standards.
I would have gotten rid of him, too.

Plus he is not the number one back in New York. He has plenty of rest and no pressure. That and running behind the best run O-line in football helps. LT still has some left but he can not be a featured back anymore. Plus the Charges are better off getting rid of him just to stop the damn whinning

His relationship with Rivers was strained, he didn't like Norvs pass happy offense (LTs words not mine), and he looked like he lost a full step.
I want to see LT do well and I am pulling for him. He was a great Charger and did a lot of good in the city.
That being said, going their seperate ways was the smart move. The Chargers backfield situation seems to be headed in a great direction.

Have you seen the holes the Jets O-line has opened for him? That's the difference. we just didn't have a good run blocking line the last few years. Lt would get to the line and go down because there would be no space.

2009 Chargers were 31st in NFL with 88.9 rushing yds/game. Currently, they're 10th with 132 yds/game despite two starters, Vasquez and McNeil, missing. Get those two starters back along with Mathews' health, this year's running game is light years better than '09.

One week does not make a career, let alone a season! He will have a few more great games as well this year, but still don't think he has a very long future left in those legs. 2 - 3 at the most. Getting the new guys up and running while PR is in his prime was a smart move. I wish they would have let LT go a couple of years ago while we still had Turner here.
It's the $7mill Chargers are paying to Sproles that has me worried.

It's a combination of a lot of things. In SD the last few years he had some suspect blocking, awful and predictable play calling, a diminishing role in the offense due to the emergence of a dominant passing game as well a couple injuries. A lot of us thought he still had some gas in the tank and under the right conditions he could still run wild, sadly those conditions would just never be met again in SD. I am sad he left but am happy he is getting a chance to show he still has it. It's amazing what some blocking will do.

Last year he was tripping over his own feet and not breaking tackles.
I'm glad he is having success in NY, good for LT. Lets check back in a few weeks when he gets dinged up a bit.
I would rather have Mathews/Tolbert than LT.
