My preference would be a single Ukraine thread so the conversation doesn't splinter. Not sure why this is here as we've spoken to the same topic (or at least some had) on that unified thread. Here is The Politico's take, basically saying that there isn't much the West can do as Putin doesn't care and accurately thinks we wouldn't do anything anyway. He appears to be spot on as we've done nothing. The President didn't even attend his on crisis meeting on the Russian invasion of Ukraine, opting instead to let Susan Rice chair it and report to him. Putin gets it. We are the butt of his joke. The question is, does he start looking farther? Estonia and their ethnic Russian population, other parts of Ukraine, back to Georgia, parts of Khazakstan? My guess is that Obama will fail the test. He is not even interested enough to attend meeting on the issues.

Too bad. Commenting on the state of Obama is far from wishing him to fail. There is not a person on here that would not be delighted if Obama would surround himself with people who could give him good solid counsel. We all want what is best of the United States and to have an opinion about the short comings of The President is not the same as wishing him to fail. But you know that and it just embarrasses you to state the truth about Obama.

Putin is a former KGB honk and is a villain thru and thru. The US has to put the squeeze on Russia, with Europe, in the economic world. Kick them out of the G8', pressure the Russian banks, and for God's sake build the keystone pipeline . Let us supply our allies with energy. Just my opinion.

Okay, I'm stupid, I guess. The link works for me, or am I just too dense to get your meaning? AzWm This is what you wrote very recently in a different thread. Okay, with that out of the way, may I suggest that . . . (A) If you disagree with the ideas expressed in the thread, explain why you take a contrary position. . . (B) If you are in agreement, say so and, perhaps, add relevant points of your own . . . or (C) Simply move on to the next thread. AzWm Which one does posting a blind link w/ no commentary fall under? You do it quite often, then chastise others.

Russia supplies a great amount of energy to them and they certainly don't want to rock the boat.

On the other hand can Russia afford to lose the business?
