robertreich.org/post/76339971895I think the big point to remember here is that people with jobs create demand an thus more jobs. The middle class must thrive for the economy to thrive.

A mixture of fact and fantasy! Overall those lessons are better off forgotten. Spending does create demand, but taking from producers to fuel spending from non-producers ends up with some people getting money with no resultant product or service. This is just more liberal malarkey.

It is attitudes like the above that makes our country weak.

It is attitudes like the above that makes our country weak. It is weak minded responses like that which do not recognize the most important parts of an economic equation that lead to the mindless faith in lightweights like Reich.

It is people who do not understand how demand creates jobs that weakens us as. They would rather bleat the canards of the right about rich job creators. A sad situation for our great country. I guess if you have spent your life sucking government tit you don't need to think.

I accept your weak attempt at an insult as capitulation. Spending is important only when the money spent was earned. Prove that statement. There are two statements there. One is recognition of your surrender and the other has been explained by me and others many times. If you can't understand why money earned as a result of providing a product or service is more valuable that money taken away from one class to give to another in return for votes, you are just what I think you are.

"Spending is only important when the money spent was earned". Explain why that is true.

For those who might not be inclined to click on the Reich runt rant link, here is a distillation of most of the runt's rants:
"Mommeeee! Mommeeee! Billy has more candy than I do!
Waaaahh! Waaaahh!
No fair!
Waaaahh! Waaaahh!
Mommeeee! Mommeeee! Make Billy give me some of his candy!
Waaaahh! Waaaahh!"

I accept your weak attempt at an insult as capitulation. Spending is important only when the money spent was earned. I'm glad you've come around to my side. END WELFARE. END INHERITANCE. End handouts of all kinds. I understand your feelings about inheritance. I just don't agree. I think that if you consider that taxing away wealth is to destroy wealth and it's job creating capital that you could be convinced of that. Wealth employed by the most undeserving children of the wealthy is more effective than it would be after it is run through the very inefficient government bunch of bureaucratic programs. Even if spent poorly by the heirs it would still not be filtered and diluted by government waste.

How do you end inheritance, who gets the estate and what becomes of it? If I had my way, it would go to the military. Doesn't really matter. The basic mission of this country cannot be achieved while some are born with significant advantages over others. It just can't. This proposal should be greeted enthusiastically by those who believe that a) we ALL need to work for what we have and b) no one rides for free. Lots of people want to end welfare because it's a "handout." Well I'll go along with that the minute we end inheritance for the same reason. I get your point but building a family business is a hallmark of our small business economy. If my kids are raised in my business, farm, whatever, and learn to make it work perhaps make it better with new skills and talent (kids are doing that now with their positive use of social media, IT skills and new thinking) then they have earned their share without having to purchase it. So even if they did purchase thier own business, then the money they raise goes to me to live on then the rest goes back to the government? The happy feeling you create with the "work to earn" concept belies a lot of the motivation many have to build a family business and other related concepts. That takes a lot of the economic motivation out of the model. On top of that, the owner builds the business then sells it to who if the kids can't afford to buy it? Investment groups with no care about the quality of the craftsmanship, customers, etc? The economic logic flow doesn't work. People will just work to make money but there won't be any substantial money for investment outside of huge banks, etc. The corporatization of the US would go into hyperdrive since they'd have all the private money.
