Why do they have to put so much emphasis on figure skating during the Winter Olympics? No one wants to see that crap. Bring on the hockey.

Even Olympic hockey is dreadful. I love the snowboarding and curling. I disagree, Olympic hockey is cleaner because of the larger rink and high quality play. I love a good hockey fight but the international game is just better, more enthusiastic, pure hockey. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

Even Olympic hockey is dreadful. I love the snowboarding and curling. Yes, curling is so much more epic than hockey. I'm hoping you're being as sarcastic as I am.

Never thought much of curling, but it's big in a number of countries and part of their cultures. The Olympics are global so have to cater to the world audience and not just Americans. Curling is Chess on Ice and a thinking (wo)man's game. I like to define 'sport' as requiring physical AND mental skill. It's not the most physically taxing endeavor unless played outdoors in -20 wind chill, but it does require strategy and exercising the brain. Don't knock it until you've tried it. It's actually quite entertaining as a 'game' once you understand the rules and techniques of play. It reminds me of snooker.
Olympic hockey is cleaner than the NHL and requires more discipline in taking costly penalties with the best-of-the-best players on ice.
Figure skating has been tainted with all the judging and corruption scandals. Too much money involved so people do silly things.
Short tracking skating is entertaining with all the jostling and spills. Same goes with snowboard cross and slopestyle.
The biathlon is the most challenging sport with striking a balance of physical endurance and skill. Being able to go hard on the heart, lungs and legs, and then controlling your breathing while shooting is impressive.
The Olympics should be scaled down to one week to ensure its sustainability. Russia spent $50+ billion on a WINTER Olympics and only wealthy nations will be able to host the games in the future or else bankrupt nations on the backs of taxpayers.

The Russian woman wearing the simi-thong panties in ice dancing caught my eye. Looking at beautiful women in skimpy outfits trumps hockey everyday of the week for me.
