This guy was 24-0 with a 1.27 ERA last year in Japan. He is looking to play in the United States. Any chance the Padres spend some money to sign him?
Honestly,IMO for an organization who is miserly, the Padres seem to be oblivious to foreign talent. After wtaching the World Baseball Classic, I knew Cespedes was going to be a star and the A's got him for a song. Yu Darvish has been lights out. Yasil Puig is a beast. When are the Pads going to go for one of these guys? The San Diego Fans loved Aki, imagine the rotation with Tanaka!

$75 million is the expected price. You have answered Josh's question. Did you confuse Aztecmusician and I, or is his name Josh also?

When are the Pads going to go for one of these guys? The San Diego Fans loved Aki, imagine the rotation with Tanaka! Definitely will be a pricey expenditure. From what I read briefly this morning on MLBTR.com, the max posting fee now is $20M right? So you have to assume MULTIPLE teams will submit that. And then, you need to outbid the teams who posted the max posting fee. If a guy like Ricky Nolasco can fetch $49M on the open market, it's not insane to think this Tanaka guy might get a total contract of $100M or so. Depends on his suitors. I've read the Angels want him bad, and they not only have a thick wallet, they really need starting pitching. Their attempts to trade Kendrick or Trumbo for young quality starting pitching have gone nowhere thus far, but a lot can change at the winter meetings this coming week. From what I gather, all franchises are collecting $22M this year from the new national TV rights deal. Hence some of the early spending flurries from even small market teams like Minnesota. Last year, the Indians sold their broadcasting rights from their own network to Fox Sports, and collected revenue to sign Michael Bourn and Nick Swisher. They made the postseason for the first time since 2007. It will be interesting to see if SD pursues any talent upgrades on the market.

Ok, 7 years, $155 million. Clearly the Padres would never pay that kind of contract for someone who has never thrown a MLB pitch. The Yankees were motivated buyers, Tanaka will be a player to watch this season.
