I find it quite amusing that Republicans see an extension of open enrollment as Dems joining the GOP fight against Obamacare.

Umm... Well... That quote is pretty pointless. Didn't even have to go fishing. Romneycare? MA loves it. If you discount blind ideologues that have pulled this country so far right over the past decade, most knowledgeable people accept that the ACA was built on Republican principles and ideas. It is, by all means, a conservative solution to our broken health care system - that's why many on the left don't like it. Obama ran on single payer (or the public option at the very least). Obama dismissed the individual mandate during his '08 election. Obama was elected. What we got was a plan that focused on "compromise" more than what those who elected him wanted. Of course, no one knew at that time that the Republican's would have only one job the next four years - "making Obama a one term president and blocking anything he does". The GOP couldn't even do that right.
