Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is one of those opponents of ObamaCare who says that, if the law goes fully into effect in 2014, we will never get rid of it, no matter how terrible the scheme is. Well, not everyone agrees with his assessment.
Those, including your obedient servant, who oppose ObamaCare agree that the law is very bad and will hurt Americans almost across the board. However, the author of the piece I am linking thinks Cruz is wrong in saying that, once in place, ObamaCare will last forever. This author says, " ...the big question isn’t really whether Obamacare will eventually fail, but what comes after it fails." He may well be right. If ObamaCare proves to be as unworkable as many believe, we will have a fight on our hands regarding which way health insurance reform goes after the act's demise.
(I'd like to throw in a comment about a problem that has been mentioned but not nearly often enough. In addition to costing far more than predicted - - - what big government program does not?! - - - , it is certain to exacerbate what is already a growing problem. That problem is the doctor shortage in America. Absolutely nothing in ObamaCase addresses that issue. With millions more people with insurance, and with no additional doctors, or for that matter with the shortage even worse as many older MDs retire rather than struggle with the new law's complexities, health care rationing will become the order of the day. Unless you are a member of the chosen few who have been exempted from ObamaCare. Actually, if the doc shortage gets as bad as predicted, even those fortunate few may suffer as well. Thanks a lot, Barack, Nancy, and Harry!)
