Truly, the devil is in the details. We have had, I fear, too much high level talk about the wonders of health care reform. But any reform opens the door to abuses or simply to unintended consequences. Such things are not totally unforeseen. There are those (see the linked article) who are sending out warnings about certain amendments that are being discussed in Congress. The trouble is, politics rules the day, as usual. This is why I am wary at the very least of a grandiose government restructuring of the health care system in this country. Just this discussion of what might happen is reason enough to oppose anything that involves the government. Look and think about what the real meaning of the idea that you must buy health care coverage even if it is subsidized by government. Can you say increased taxes to buy care for people who don't want it at their own expense and just how do you get the cost down to that eight percent figure? Can you say "Government Option" at tax payer expense?
