Padres call up of Medica is real baffling. Clean-up hitter and the only offensive threat for a punchless lineup. He can only play 1B (sorta) and has had like 400 PAs above High-A.
He earned it, but why not wait a few days? Blanks starting at 1B today, that's one day he could have been in SA and he's not.
At best, the Padres just don't care about their affiliates. It's a bad way of doing business and the first thing the Pads have done that I actually don't understand at all.

SA up 1-0 in 4th.

Congratulations to San Antonio Missions, the Texas League Champions for the 2nd time in 3 years.
This time it is done during a year that the "AAA" team was 10 games over .500 and the Padres called up a number of young players. A couple of years ago the Padres had a great minor league system but it was mostly concentrated in the lower levels. The Padres minor league strength is maturing.
