The Marlins promoted 3 young starters who are pitching well and they have Giancarlo Stanton off the DL. That powered them to a 13-9 record so far in June. In June they have:
Swept 2 series from the Mets. Taken 2 of 3 from the Cardinals Taken 3 of 4 from the Giants Sweep Minnesota
This is from a team that was 13-41 a month ago.
3 young starters the Padres will face Saturday: Jacob Turner 22 years old 1.97 ERA in 5 starts. Sunday: Nate Eovaldi 22 years old 3.00 ERA in 2 starts. Monday: Jose Fernandez 20 years old 2.98 ERA in 15 starts.
Tonight the Padres face Ricky Nolasco who has been linked to most of the NL West, including the Padres, in trade rumors.

Tonight the Padres face Ricky Nolasco who has been linked to most of the NL West, including the Padres, in trade rumors. Who's linking Nolasco to the Padres? I doubt we have enough prospects in our whole system to bring this guy here. Besides (and you'll be surprised to read this), I think we should be sellers. Only teams close to being WS contenders should be out trading prospects, and we're nowhere close to being a WS team. Trade Marquis yesterday. He'll never have a season better than this one. Trade Street as soon as he gets three saves in a row (which may be never). Trade Carmelo Martinez Quentin to anyone who will take him IF he'll accept a trade. (This is why you don't do no-trades, you cheapskate MF'ing Padres...) Trade Venable if you can and let Blanks play every day if you believe in him. I'd even consider trading Headley if he hadn't tanked out his value. Then in two years, if you're gonna be a "buyer," do it right and get a couple real difference makers like Kevin Brown was. I read it on espn. I hope we don't trade for him. We can do better. Not having enough prospects is silly.

Max Fried is one; I can't remember the other guy's name. We can't trade them. Any position players who might project as stars seem to have just had TJ surgery. I think Liriano is one. Spangenberg (sp?) and guys like him are on no one's short list (except maybe ours). As usual, you have no idea what you're talking about.

@ken_Rosenthal Continue to hear same teams on Nolasco - #Dodgers, #SFGiants, #Padres - with LAD most aggressive.

And then last night, the Padres beat Nolasco and the other fish by a touchdown.

I think you must have meant the Marlins couldn't have been more fortunate than to meet the stickless Padres atm. Nice for the worst team in baseball to meet the most incompetent hitters right now. We need the injured guys back. This lineup is pathetic.

Same guys who scored enough to win a bunch of June games with a pitching staff that is less than ideal.
But getting back Cabrera, Gyorko, and Alonzo would be a big help. Hopefully Blanks and Forsythe will still get time.

Padres lineup should be: SS Cabrera 2B Gyrko 1B Alonzo LF Quentinn 3B Headley RF Blanks C Grandal CF Venable/Denorfia/Maybin That lineup is possibly the best in the NL West. With Hundley/Forsythe/Denorfia off the bench it is most certainly the deepest.

Amazing part of that horrible series in Miami and with the game 1 loss to Boston is that the Padres are just 2.5 games out of first place. The worst part though, is that the last place Dodgers have gained ground and are just THREE games out of first after being, what, 8 or 9 games out of first? The second half of the season is going to be a crazy fight to the end for the entire NL West

Watching the Padres game against Boston, and the Pads had the bases loaded with no one out due to the pitchers wildness, a walk, hit batter, etc... and our big guys, Quentin and Headley coming up. What the f**k do those two guys do? They swing at the first pitch served to them. Bingo, two outs, no advancement of the runners. What a piece of s**t approach to hitting. No wonder we're struggling to score runs, amongst many other reasons.
