Best MLB ready hitter the Padres have brought up since.. I can't remember who. He is better than Khalil was his rookie year.
The nice thing about Jedd is he has succeeded at every level he has played and the big leagues this year has been a natural progression for him.
He was great in college. He was great in rookie ball. He was great in A ball. Great in AA ball. and now he is showing the power we all wanted to see from him.
His ability to play 2nd base is an added bonus as Chase is at 3rd (hopefully for a while) and the second basemen is not typically a power hitter but he adds that dimension to the lineup.
I'm not saying he's a future MVP, but I think he's a future all star.

Agree with everything you've said here. "Some" fans on this board have hyped future backups like Forsythe, etc., but this is the one guy I've been looking forward to seeing. I didn't think Forsythe was bad last year. For a second baseman to hit .270 and hit 6 homeruns in 350 at bats isn't too bad. Particularly in his first full year. I don't think he'll ever be a middle of the order guy but if he rebounds well from his injury and does just as well I bet he'll be worth some value on the trade market.

Forsythe gives us a quality bat to backup many positions. He is a better hitter than Amarista who is filling his spot now. I really like Forsythe for his ability to hit left handed pitching. Backups are better if they excel in certain situations. He is an important piece for the Padres. Good backups are critical. From what we have seen so far, Gyorko is the better choice mainly because he is 2 years younger. That gives him a much higher up-side. Gyorko is not the defensive player that Forsythe is..lest we forget: Many believe Forsythe would make a natural catcher. Others think he can become a good shortstop. He will be a player that can backup 8 positions. He would probably be the Padres position player that pitched, if we needed one. He is also a good baserunner with 11 stolen bases and 3 caught stealings, career. Nice to have a bench player who can pinch run and then replace the player he pinch ran for. He is a keeper.
