The Nats have scored 9 total runs in Stras' 5 starts... and have given up 4 unearned runs in those starts.
Difficult to win games under those circumstances.

Everyone's key is to get to him early & make the Nat's play catch up!

Stras is SOLID. Its a loooooooooooooooong season. He's putting together yet another good one as Nats expect him to rack up much more innings.
Also have to appreciate his maturity and professionalism in being a consumate team player, not frustrated by losses.

They'll be fine, just like everyone told you in the other thread you started on the same topic. Yeah, he should go to the Padres, where they have such a good organization, or the Dodgers, they've done so well recently. The Nats are solid, very solid, with great structure in place to win for a long time. They've had a slow start but the bats are returning. Stras has a role too, to not give up three runs early in games as he has done recently. His location hasn't quite been there and there is a belief that he is tipping his pitches. Team game, team effort and he is on a quality team with a quality organization behind him.

Team game, team effort and he is on a quality team with a quality organization behind him. I don't recall ever claiming that he should join the Padres or Dodgers... Great structure in place... for a long time. Can't envision that when Bryce and Stras are gonna be earning $30mm each per year. Throw in Gio and Zimmerman who are vastly underpaid. The Nats could easily have a $250mm+ payroll if they want anyone semi-competent offensively. So happy to see Werth and LaRoche in the heart of the lineup. It's okay to admit that the Nats continually play $hitty when Stras takes the mound. A few examples that don't get reflected in the boxscore: a) 6th inning vs. Cincinnati. Runners at first and third with nobody out. A line drive is hit to 2nd base and Espinosa figures he'll throw home to try and get one of THE fastest base runners in all of MLB instead of getting an easy double-play. Should have been one run scored, 2 outs and nobody on base. Instead, the run scores, nobody out and runners on first and second. Both of those runners eventually score and the Nats have no chance of a comeback victory. b) 7th inning vs. St. Louis. Nats with runners on first and third with one out. 3-2 count on Lombardozzi with Solano on first. Lombo swings and misses for strike three and Solano (the catcher) gets thrown out at 2nd. Why on earth are you sending the catcher? Don't even get me started on the $hitty defense that the Nats play with Stras on the mound. How many extra pitches does Stras have to throw because Zimmerman can't throw a ball safely to first base?

How about the defense and hitting today?
You can pick single elements out to make any case but FACT: Stras is in a great place, he knows it and any thinking fan will see through a few games for the bigger picture.

Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards Those 'single elements' lead to games being lost... for DUMB PLAYS. It's one thing to play hard and come up short... but to play stupid is inexcusable. Another great show of run support tonight! And yet more proof that the Nats bullpen is OVERRATED... Clippard is a joke.

Did you see the hit? It was a seeing eye grounder hit precisely through the hole between third and short. What happened after that? It is essentially the same squad as last season, they've had a slow start and yet are only 4 1/2 games behind a decent Braves team. Man, with all that's going on, this is your daily rant? Why don't you ask reigning NL Coach of the Year Davy Johnson. Stras pitched well today coming off his stint on the DL. Cleveland salvaged a win in the series. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

First and third nobody out... twice today... and the Nats don't score.
Oh yea, they also had bases loaded with nobody out in another inning... and still can't score.
The Nats are horrible, plain and simple. And it starts with Davey Johnson.

News: Strasburg ranks last in the majors in run support at 2.7 runs per game, the Washington Post reports. (Fri Jun 28) Tough start this year. They're doing it on purpose you know. Did you watch yesterday's game? Frankly, he was out-pitched and Arizona played well above themselves in the field. Stras brings out the best in other teams. It's baseball, things happen. He looks great though. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards
