I think that the proposed purchase of the Rams by Limbaugh was a publicity stunt. I don't think he really thought he would get approved, and just wanted the controversy.. (like he does every day). I guess the contrast would be if Olberman tried to by a NASCAR team.

Maybe and maybe not. Rush has a background in Sports, but it seems to me that it would be hard to have the owners approve him.
Now what do you thinks about NewsCorp buying NBC? How long do you think Olbermann would last on MSNBC?

The Left (not saying that you are one, of course) generally believes that people such as Rush would indeed stoop to such tactics in order to boost ratings. I certainly do believe that some hosts use deliberately incendiary language. However, I also believe that generally speaking, talk show hosts, left or right, do not take positions that they do not believe in.
Let's consider Rush. I have been listening to him, off and on since about 1992. Used to listen close to every day in the 90s. I think I have a fairly good idea of what makes him tick. He has often used pretty tough language (e.g., feminazis), but more in the spirit of making a point than to deliberately offend people. (I doubt he is upset if some of the women he refers to as feminazis feel insulted.)
As to an NFL franchise, I strongly suspect that Rush is very serious. He is a super NFL fan and I think he wants to be an owner more than almost anything.

Unless you know something I don't. news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20091012/media_nm/us_nbcuniversalRupert Murdoch's News Corp and John Malone's Liberty Media Corp are also interested in NBC Universal, though neither has approached GE so far, CNBC reported, citing sources.
News Corp, which owns the Fox cable network and local TV stations, had been seen as a less likely bidder, analysts have said, because taking a stake in NBC might raise antitrust concerns with the U.S. government. There is NO way that the government would allow a single owner of two national networks.

Limbaugh and others (Hannity, Beck, Olberman) do offend certain segaments of the population deliberately.... its what their bases enjoy and what keeps them coming back. I actually can't beleive you beleive this??? Limbaugh generates hatred among a certain percentage of the population. You are going to pay a price when you leave the safety of the mike and put yourself out in the general population. Limbaugh is no different than Jackson, Sharpton, olberman etc. They make money on generating divisiveness. Limbaugh's core audience is so predicatable, any talented individual could make money off of them.
