Any look into the history of science would reveal a plethora of science that was "settled" and scientists who fought hard to not allow changes to the orthodoxy, only to have facts change peoples minds slowly but surely to the new orthodoxy. Anthropologic Global Warming Theory opponents are now not only fighting the normal resistance of science to change but also entrenched politicians, educators, and news people who see it as a lever to achieve change they would be seeking anyway.
