We've already been alerted. I chose a post service career that i could do because of my earned benefit. At this point, if they pulled the earned benefit, it would hurt. I have a number of service connected issues that make me difficult to insure even though I am fully employable. These are the kinds things us combat veterans face, especially those that are on the back end of our prime employable years.

Who'd pay for it? We would, as we are seemingly being forced to now. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards We are paying for your health care now. I paid for my health care through my service. It included unpaid overtime, diminished wages, long, uncompensated periods away from home in arduous conditions with the possibility of being killed. and other treats. You missed my point. But again, I could find all your "freeloading" quotes you've made in the past to illustrate what you think of military care. We were recruited into the military and promised that after a career of arduous, life threatening service, to have our potentially diminished health due to that service taken care of. Now they want to take it away and make us pay for it ourselves. For folks that chose post service careers based upon that guarantee, it will be devastating for some. Sorry if you two misunderstand me. Yes, your health care is part of your compensation. I am not saying anything about that. Stu was complaining that he could not get health insurance because of his service related health issues. I pointed out that if we had national health care that would not be an issue for him. Stu asked how that would be paid for. I said by taxes, just like his and your health care is paid now. Why is that hard to understand?

Let me point out that you have advocated breaching contracts, between, state and local governments and their employees many times. Those damn pensions are going to bankrupt the City, County, State, or whatever. Since it is your ox that is being gored I am sure it is different now.

When a man has spent his young adult years working in a relatively low paying, arduous and dangerous career, it is hard to disguise a crack like "We are paying for your health care now" as anything but a small selfish whine. It sounds like you want to renege on the nations obligations to those who serve.

I advocate changing systems so that over time both employees and taxpayers get a fair shake. I never once said that we should just back out of our obligations to anyone. It seems that on here you are the only one to complain in a way that appears to do so.

I didn't want to be to pedantic and point out the obvious that my taxes would go up commensurate with the cost to cover the program. That is paying for it. I paid for it in advance. Would the taxpayers pay me back for all I put in if you take back what I earned? Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards
