You should give Jamaal three "A"s. Jaamaaaal. There he is bigger and better than ever. HAM

Of course Fisher is right, but if Jamaal were just 7 feet tall, he would be a much better player. He should stay another year on the Mesa to see if he has a growth spurt. I would settle for 6'10".

So, you're saying everyone needs to be objective ... but if someone doesn't agree with your opinion on Jamaal, or a quote here or there by Coach Fisher, they they're wrong? Hmmm...
Thanks, but I'll stick with my own opinion that while he's an extremely hard and dedicated worker who plays with a ton of heart and does some spectacular things on the court ... he also does some dumb things. He, like most people, is not perfect. Of course the exception to that rule is a handful of anonymous opinion board experts who are always right on everything -- just ask them!

Pointing out that JF leads the league in turnovers and is among the top 10 turnover machines in the nation -- as well as pointing out that he has a nation-leading 6 technical fouls -- is not bashing. It's just observing. JF played his best game of the year, IMO. And, yes, I agree with Fish. Franklin was absolutely stifling on defense. He played under control. He took only 4 treys, which is about the right number, instead of his usual 6 to 8. He only took one forced shot from behind the arc. The others came after several passes on offense, after which JF was wide open. JF needs to play like this every game. He still dribbled himself into trouble a few times and had 5 turnovers (way too many). If he can get those two habits under control, I'll be thrilled. And so will Fish, I'm sure. He didn't play as good as he did against UCLA. UCLA game, he played smart, in control and aggressive . He was ok tonight but not great.

It's just killing some of you to give the guy credit. They always have to point out every little thing that he does wrong.

It's completely justified to point out his faults. However, whether it's personal or because he's the best player on the team, some on here go out of their way to knock him. A compliment seems to always include a dig at the end, while credit given to lesser players doesn't. He rubs people the wrong way, I get that, but the glee and smugness that some take in pointing out his flaws troubles me. If this same microscope was placed on everyone on the team(only Rahon seems to get this same treatment) this board would even be more depressing than it usually is.

Think how valuable Jamaal would be if he got the turnovers under control. He was better today at dishing out, but still had his one on three moments. and didn't shoot 4/16.......

It's just killing some of you to give the guy credit. Folks give him credit for the good things, they also point out those aspects of his game that are frustrating. That's Jamaal. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards

BGTR
First and foremost nobody "hates" JF! At least not Aztec fans. He is a lightning rod for comment (good and bad) because his perceived low bb IQ (at times) combined with his bravado and exuberance over a shot / play made (see WSIII) is not exactly what the average fan is looking for in their POY, A.A candidate, lottery pick. High quality playmaking / shooting / leadership / sportsmanship ( like it or not) is what is expected from a guy with his credentials.

Jamaal is a great athlete, give 100% effort and one of the all-time great Aztecs. Only those that read magazines like Enquirer or get their opinions from Message Boards bitch about him.
In Fisher We Trust.

Jamaal and the curse of BBA...
I think a lot of posters on this board fell hook, line and sinker for BBA's proclamations that Jamaal would flat out dominate college basketball this year. According to BBA... "the college game is just too easy for Jamaal."
BBA single-handedly raised Jamaal to demigod status... and unfortunately set expectations that NO ONE could reach:
40+ points muliple games 10+ assists multiple games First team All-American Member of the next Olympic team 20+ ppg in the NBA
Jamaal is a DAMN GOOD college basketball player. He deserves to be heavily praised for his work ethic and production (17+ points, 9+ rebounds, 3+ assists per game), but he also deserves to be called out for his poor shot selection, technicals and turnovers.
Only time will tell whether or not he makes it in the NBA... there are plenty of reasons to think that he will and there are plenty of reasons to think that he won't.

The team yesterday had 12 turnovers (pretty good considering), but Jamaal accounted for 5 of them by himself......no one else on the team had more than 2. And those are just the turnovers that count in the stat lines.
That's not good. That's not what really good basketball players do.

"As good as we were as a team, I have to start with Jamaal," SDSU coach Steve Fisher said. "For those that only look at a stat line, you don't appreciate what he brings to this team. He's the soul of our program. He willed everybody to be ready. "If you're not in that locker room, if you're not on that practice floor, if you're not on that bus, if you're not in the hotel, if you're not on that plane, you can't fully appreciate what he brings to this team," Fisher added. "He played the best defense he's played since he's been at San Diego State. And that permeated through everybody. We said we were going to guard them, we were not going to give them easy looks, and that's what we did to a man." scores.espn.go.com/ncb/recap?gameId=330260021He may frustrate you at times, but we are a better team with him. Stop bashing, get on board, and enjoy the ride. BTW, can we grow up and dispense with the "Jamaal haters" myth. Sent from my DROID RAZR using proboards
