I know it has been said before on here but I thought I would bring it up again.
Thames Tapley Franklin Shepard Spencer
This is the lineup that went on a 16-1 run in tonight's game. With Shep and Sky, it makes it a young lineup but these are the players that want to play!
With JJ, Deshawn, and Rahon coming off the bench with descent minutes and maybe Polee and Johnson with a few. This could be a great team with chemistry. But unless we have the right players playing with each other, the chemistry won't flow.
What do you all think?

That would be a sweet starting five...
Off the bench, in order: Rahon, JJO, JJ, Polee, Deshawn

The Oracle really thinks that James Johnson should get more playing time, and possible start. Why? As good as a defender Spencer is becoming, his FT shooting really, really, really hurts this team (same with JJ).
The Oracle wouldn't try to do this against UNM, but against AFA/Reno/or Fresno....try starting Johnson. He's mobile, a big, and can possibly make a difference rebounding/post offense/ and FT shooting. Anything is an improvement to Spencer and Stephens on offense right now.

He isn't bad and with losing his starting spot, I think that would light a fire under him. So I would go, in order: JJ, Deshawn, Rahon, Polee/Johnson(haven't seen enough of these two to judge)

If we're going to continue seeing stat lines like 4 pts, 5 rebounds... I'd rather give those minutes to Johnson or Polee to develop.

I think they haven't had a chance to prove themselves. This is why I have them lower on the bench. But I see the potential for both for sure.

Just my own thoughts... DSteph has an opportunity to play ball for money, somewhere. This is his last year, he knows the system, has played unbelievably well at times, and the Fish likes older players and playing 7-8 man rotations. Johnson and Polee are going to be vital to our team in the years to come, but if Fish thinks they shouldn't be out there right now, I agree with him. Next year, Johnson and Polee are going to get theirs. Possibly this year, there are scenarios where Johnson and Polee get theirs. Learning patience is something that should be learned by every young man, and it kinda feeds into the type of coach Fish is. Are there legit arguments to be made for those players getting more time? Probably, but Fish is a better coach than you, and me. He knows what he's doing. Both Johnson and Polee are going to get their chance to shine.

Agreed. And when it comes down to it, I trust Fish over anybody else, too!

By taking advantage of their ball handling skills it was a brilliant move by Fisher. I don't think there's any other team in the MWC that can do this as well as we can.

Over the past few days, not one person on this board (including me) correctly predicted Fisher's starting line-up vs Nevada.
J. Franklin Tapley Stephens O'Brien (primarily running the point) Rahon
But Fisher went with this line-up and this group did very well and got the game off to a good start.
I wouldn't be surprised to see the same starting line-up vs New Mexico. But no matter who starts, In Fisher I Trust.

At this point I would agree with the OP's starting 5. Winston is showing he's a good rebounder.

Good positive post in light of all the negativity on this board for once. Agree!
