People care about as much for Temple football as they do Villanova football. And they still had better attendance than 90% of the MWaC... LOL That's just sad. I didn't realize that.

They grossly overpaid for a coach, building a new stadium for them is useless enterprise, and they remain one of the lowest revenue producer in a conference full of poor revenue producers. CSU is one of the lead rocks. It is safe to say if and when UNLV and CSU build their new stadiums it will significantly help their programs. IMO a quality College FB stadium is a key component that is missing at SDSU.

It all has to do with State Budgets. Colorado, Nevada, and even Wyoming didn't defund Higher Education the way California has. At least they are refunding the UC and CSU systems finally. Yep. The percentage of wealthy Californians who believe in public education at any level has dipped dramatically. More and more they don't care about the future of the state so many pay for their children and grandchildren to attend private schools. Frankly, I'm not sure a lot of K-12 districts don't deserve that because of what a piss poor job they've been doing. But that isn't at all true of public higher education in our state.

3 straight bowl games, 6 NFL draft picks, 1 HC change, 1 conference FB co-championship, and 1 attempted escape later... ...we are still handcuffed by the front range schools who have appeared to DO NOTHING in the same time frame. We play the front range schools only half as often as before. So we partially "escapped". This!

An on campus stadium would help our football program a lot. I wish we had a billionaire donor among the alumni.

This board is amazing. Don't be delusional. Give up the ghost of the BigLeast. Everyone makes the assumption that 7 mil in the east and 3 mil in san diego all would watch SDSU play Temple...a big yawn. SDSU can't draw for football and we have a small arena for BB..... Mountain West if fast becoming a player nationally. Remember fellow Aztec's one good football season does not make a dynasty (especially the route in the bowl game).

The Front Range Schools aren't holding anyone back besides themselves. They are doomed long term due to their geography.
The only schools really holding back SDSU are USC, UCLA, and SDSU, in that order.

UNLV doesn't have a football program so being in the MW is good for them. + 28 and all the other great SDSU football numbers that UNLV would know nothing about Great football numbers? Am I missing something

The new arena wasn't the key factor in the resurgence of basketball... Fisher's program and consistently putting a winner on the court was. (Although, it can be legitimately argued that the arena was a big factor in getting Fish to come here...). I remember the Trenkle years (and even the early Fisher years) when the arena was a mausoleum with a couple thousand fans and the protozoic beginnings of what was to become The Show.

I don't have the delusion that over 10 million people would be watching an SDSU vs Temple football game. I can just about guarantee SDSU vs almost anyone in the MWaC would draw less than SDSU vs almost anyone in the BE. There are simply more people on the East coast... Coupled with better TV network exposure translates into more potential viewers. If you don't understand that logic then you are the one who is delusional. The problem with the BE is the potential instability and lack of TV details for the conference; thus back to the MWaC. If the BIG XII or SEC or B1G expand the BE will be in big trouble. SDSU doesn't draw well but they draw better than many schools. FYI: a 12,414 seat basketball arena is not that small.

Hasn't this topic been beaten to death, then beaten to a pulp? Why even respond?

I think you guys forget that the CSU Rams were a consistent top 20 program for years under Sonny L. They are shooting for that again. I appreciate that they are putting a ton of money into their football program. It will only benefit us in the long run, if, and only if, we keep winning.
Keep winning consistently and SDSU will become nationally relevant. But as you saw last week, if we lose (in bball or football) we become irrelevant very quickly.
