week. I think it was more of a hangover from the UNLV game. We have a VERY good team, with a VERY good coach. Not having Thames out there hitting the three and calming us down is crucial.
We've heard from MANY that say we're done, but I'm wondering how many out there are like me, and feel that it was just simply a bad week?

It was just a bad week, but . . . we need a pure shooter who will make the other team pay (every time) when they leave their man to stop JF's driving the lane. We also need a nasty banger down low on the blocks. Finally we need to take it to the rim (everytime) and don't settle for jump shots, unless of course they double team the penetration, in which case we kick it out to our dead on shooter who just doesn't miss. We should be an inside out team not an outside in team. Other than that we're fine.

Add a couple more things to your list such as turnover to assist ratio, free throw shooting and rebounding... ;D Now that I think of it, what's NOT on the list?

I'd like to see JF kick it out more often when they collapse on him after the drive. Taps fits that roll to a t. He will get more consistent, he's too good not to. Rahon is another matter. He should be another one to fill that roll, but he's let the team down there so far.
I also think that Spencer and Johnson should see more playing time, especially Spencer. They could help fill the role of banger down low when needed.

In other words, I think we're more like the team that beat UCLA, and the one that played tough against Arizona, opposed to the team that looked like s**t against Wyoming. That's all.

That's all. to answer your op, yea i agree. there may be ""issues"" this team needs to work on... actually there are definitely things this team needs to work on. but i think you're right, in general and moving forward this team is much more like the ucla/az team than the wyo team. i think a bit of the sky is falling attitude has to do with us losing two straight, which rarely happens on the mesa. had we beat lower nevada (which we just as easily could have done), the loss to wyoming would have been disregarded MUCH more.

Exactly. It's being blown out of proportion IMHO.

True but if we lose 3 in a row we have a real problem.

True but if we lose 3 in a row we have a real problem. Yes, I would start to get a little worried if we lose next game, but it aint going to happen. NO WAY Jamaal and Taps let that happen. They're pissed!!!!!

It's a long season and slumps happen every year. We're in one, and how long it takes to bust out of it will be a measure of our quality of a team. Losing X, having the ridiculously hot first half vs. CSU and the drive and draw the foul plan against UNLV all combined to suck us into the Wyoming disaster. Fisher said when you're cold shooting the ball, you look worse than you really are. And we were frozen in Laramie.

Also, I think part of the reason that we were so emotionally detached from that Wyoming game had something to do with a let down after the UNLV game. I'm not worried about us not being emotionally involved going forward, because it hasn't been a pattern.

Last week was bad. But, this week:
Deshawn Stevens will summons his inner Malcolm Thomas.
J J O'Brien will summons his inner Billy White.
Winston (or a healthy X) will summons his inner D.J. Gay.
Jamaal will summons his inner Kawhi Leonard.
and
Chase Tapley will summons his inner, uh, Chase Tapley.
...and all will be just fine.
