This is exactly what the stature of the MWC brings to the table. Magnified failures, because it's what the public and media expect. And unheralded successes, because no one east of New Mexico cares. And thus it will continue, in a conference with no exposure.

But I'm also willing to eat a little crow if that's not the case... if SDSU & UNLV both remain in the top 25, that'll be a small sign of some credit being given to the conference. Wouldn't count on it though.

The MWC needs to earn respect by performing in the Tournament. Unfortunately, every year the MWC seems to fall flat.
Last year the MWC placed four teams in the Tourney, but went 1-3 in first round games (well, with the play-in games, technically the second round). NM lost in the next round.
Since inception in 1999, only four MWC teams (SDSU, NM, Utah, and UNLV) have made it to the Sweet 16. The MWC has never placed a team in the Elite Eight.
Since inception, the MWC has gone 15-33 in the NCAA Tourney.
Interesting trivia: Which MWC program has the most NCAA appearances?

It's a mystery why the MWC teams traditionally bomb out in the Dance. We can't blame it on poor seeds either. I say the selection committee won't be so generous next year if no one produces this March. If Butler, Gonzaga or VCU can do it, what gives with our toothless conference?
