UHCougar posts on the nBE board as follows: I was told Monday by my person connected to the MWC that there were "substantive" discussions with UConn and Cincinnati about them putting their basketball in the Catholic 7 and playing football with UH and SMU in the MWC . . . the Sporting News story was only half right . . . but this never got going beyond talks with Thompson . . . My personal opinion . . . I would not be surprised to see this happen still . . . there is not a lot of enthusiasm in the room today from what I'm hearing . . . Yoda out... . That would be interesting. Somehow, it would be awesome to get the best of the BE and the best of the MWC in the same conference. If you simultaneously get rid of the front-range dead weight (I believe we're calling them "the rocks" now... appropriately enough) then yes.

So basically you want to be in the MWC because it is better in one sport and vastly worse in every other sport?

The fact is it's a very good conference, and head and shoulders above what we're headed to. It is good, one of the premier mid majors. It's just not on the same level with the power conferences. Outside of SDSU and BYU making sweet sixteen runs one year the MWC has been horrible in ncaa tournament play. What exactly did basketball do for decades? It was a wasteland. You should have seen the basketball attendance when I was at state in the early 2000's. Can't imagine how pathetic it was before that. Truth be told for a vast majority of their existence both football and basketball have been laughable. Agree, you'll be amazed at how much more value the BE will get over the MWC deal. I'm actually fine with SDSU going back to the MWC, but don't be dumb about it. ..Sent from my GS3..

Form an all-sports conference out of the BE football programs and invite a couple key programs from MWC. Solid in football and hoops, new commish and new media deal.

That would be my ideal situation as well. That being said, I'm not 100% certain the rest of the nBE schools see things that way. I get the feeling that they would prefer a conference consisting of primarily schools in the Central/Eastern time zones, with one or two football schools out west to get more TV time. (Granted, my "sources" are articles written on the internet, but it's how I'm reading the news...)

UH and SMU going where? Certainly not the MWC... I predict that all four are going to the MWC Y. I predict you are going to be zero for four. Luv ya, Yoda. I particularly love how objective you always try to be.
