Based on what? JJ is one of the teams worst rebounders. Per 40 minutes rebounding: 1. Jamaal 13.30 2. Stephens 9.63 3. Spencer 9.35 4. Polee 7.47 5. Winston 6.14 6. JJ 5.91 7. Tapley 4.60 8. Rahon 3.19 9. Thames 3.16 Outside of the guards JJ is our worst rebounder, this can actually be a blessing in disguise. This team has 4 very important players, Tap, Jamaal, X, and Stephens. JJ's production can not only be replaced it can be added extra. Note I wrote FOOTWORK, not best rebounder. Not all rebounding is done by the guy who gets the ball, some of it is done by the guy who prevents the opponent from getting it (freeing it up for his teammate). O'Brien has excellent footwork and positioning. He often times forces the other's best to deal with him. I'm not claiming the guy is Rodman or Russell; but the way he works has definitely opened up things for our guards to clear the glass. Their is no quantitative measure for this, so I'm certain most will disregard it. But I think if you watch him closely you will see what I mean Rebounding is about desire. That man that wants it the most will consistently get the most rebounds.

He isn't a good rebounder and gives up plenty of offensive boards, so I wouldn't say his rebounding footwork is good.

this is not even close to being accurate. I think the team can survive without JJ's 6 points and 3.7 boards per game, relax. FrankTap's 32 and 14. Not so much. i wasn't talking about missing JJ... i was referring to his point that ONLY jamaal and chase need to be good.

Based on what? JJ is one of the teams worst re-bounders. Per 40 minutes rebounding: 1. Jamaal 13.30 2. Stephens 9.63 3. Spencer 9.35 4. Polee 7.47 5. Winston 6.14 6. JJ 5.91 7. Tapley 4.60 8. I'm not claiming the guy is Rodman or Russell; but the way he works has definitely opened up things for our guards to clear the glass. Their is no quantitative measure for this (although is ORB% is 3rd on the team only behind Deshawn and Spenser), so I'm certain most will disregard it. But I think if you watch him closely you will see what I mean. JJ plays the 4. His counterpart on Saturday (if he plays) will be a player, Pierce Hornung, who averages 2.0 more offensive rebounds per game than the player that is 2nd in the MWC in that category and double the number that The Aztecs best, DeShawn Stephens, gets. MWC offensive rebounding 2012-20131. HORNUNG, Pierce-CS SR 13 62 4.8 2. BENNETT, Anthony-LV FR 16 45 2.8 3. WATKINS, Ryan-BS JR 15 42 2.8 IVERSON, Colton-CS SR 15 42 2.8 5. SMITH, Greg-CS SR 15 41 2.7 6. STEPHENS, DeShawn-SD SR 15 36 2.4 So having a 4 that knows how to box out will be very important when we play CSU. If you say JJ is good at that, then not having him could be problematic. On 2/25/2012 Hornung pulled down 5 offensive rebounds against the Aztecs at Viejas arena.

Bill- Hornung's role in their offense is almost strictly just the glass (to be certain he picks up a lot of points that way though), where as Iverson is their post scorer. I think this could be a good matchup for OBrien because he has some ht. on Hornung. My concern is if Iverson starts scoring early on, and they bring the double from the 4 (Obrien) then hornung will be clear to clean the glass.
I just hope that if we need to double we do it from the perimeter. They got a couple of OK 3 pt shooters, but its not really their game. I think if we can get away without doubling (or at least bring it from the perimeter) then OB will be fine, as will we.

Lots of offensive rebounds tell me they throw up a ton of bricks

amish- For me when I refer to ORB numbers I am referring to ORB%. Which is based on the amount of available ORBs (to even out for shooting %)
CSU is slightly above avg fg%
