SI.com says no locks yet because the conference is so competitive. That's a little ridiculous. Barring any catastrophes SDSU, New Mexico and UNLV are all locks.

Conference basketball play, the only thing I'll miss about the Mountain West. At the same time the conference took years to get this good.

If you judge the conferences based on prestige, the MWC is weak. But if you judge based on how good the teams are, the MWC is one of the best in the country easy.

7 seed? Wake, Lunardi. That's down from 6 last week. Settle it on the floor and let the chip fall where they may.

Its not like MWC is the ACC. Exactly. If Glockner were to remove Wichita St. and Mizzou from his list of 13 "locks", I see 11 teams that, could go .600 in league play and still make the tournament.

WCC is not a 1 bid league. They're gonna get at least two in, maybe three.

so are they really saying , what really matters as usual , is how teams perform during their conference schedule to determine how they are going to be positioned for March Madness. Then take a closer look at road/neutral court victories in quality games in OOC.

I'll never understand the disparity between the AP rankings and the "bracketology" seedings. How can #16 in the AP poll be a 7 seed IN THE EAST while the #24 and #25 teams get 5 seeds in midwest/south??! On a positive note, it is nice to see the MWC getting 7 seeds in there... but we're still getting hosed

If SDSU were to go 8-8, they would not make the tournament. The point is there are 6 teams that have at-large profiles right now and not all of them will win enough games to make it (i.e. as he says, the 6th place team may fall short).

WCC is not a 1 bid league. They're gonna get at least two in, maybe three. BYU and St Mary's will have very bad resumes. Unless one of them beats Gonzaga (unlikely) they will have no top 50 wins. Both their RPIs will be in the mid 40s to upper 50s. Without a win versus Gonzaga RPI Forecast projects Team | RPI | vs 1--25 | vs 26--50 | vs 51-100 | Top 100 | BYU | 41.50 | 0--3 | 0--3 | 4--3 | 4--9 | St Mary's | 59.50 | 0--3 | 1--1 | 2--2 | 3--6 | Bosie State | 49.30 | 4--5 | 2--2 | 1--1 | 7--8 |
I added Boise State for comparison. The #6 team in the MWC, Boise State, will have a much better resume than either of the other two.

On a positive note, it is nice to see the MWC getting 7 seeds in there... but we're still getting hosed Ap Rankings, relative to the selection committee, is a joke. Ive always felt that the AP voters as a whole are like teenage girls: they care more about name brands, what is being over-hyped at the moment, have no sense of the big picture, and are just looking for attention. Some people hate on the selection committee, but they often times do a very good job. They take into account whole body of work, but give a nod to how teams are heading into the dance (see Kenyon Martin). People like Lunardi basically just use a formula to fill in the bracketology, the problem is this early in the season most teams have not played the majority of their tougher games. Take us for example, we still have 10 games left with teams that will most likely be rpi top 50 (12 if you count the conf tourney); whatever our resume is going to be is still mostly undecided. Conversely teams from weaker conferences, take Wichita, have at most 4 or 5 left? They have less of a chance to prove themselves and help themselves out in this formula

I don't like the 7 seed at all. That has upset written all over it.
