Who do you root for? I respect them both, but hate them both. How about a tie? Maybe a scoreless tie?

When teams like Fresno State and Nevada play, it is better for conference RPI if the visiting team wins. For what that is worth.

Root for whoever you want, its not like it will impact the outcome of the game

I say this is a much more must win game for UNLV only because they play 2 of their next 3 on the road at SDSU and CSU. An early conference loss on the road could make them a little too tight for those games. They win at the Pit and they could have huge confidence.

Stats and RPI aside, you definitely want to root for the home team -- UNM. Any team that breaks serve in the MGC will have the hammer during conference play. The team that breaks serve the most -- especially during roadies among the top 5 teams, will likely win the conference. If UNLV were to beat UNM, then we would have to win at the Pit just to keep pace with the Robertas.
Now if UNLV were playing, say, @fresno or @nevada, you'd have to root for the home team, assuming that SDSU would likely win those two roadies and have an up on UNLV.

This is not a must win for UNLV, a road conference game against a good team early in conference season is never a must win. My guess is the winner of the conference doesn't lose a home game.

If our goal is to win the MWC (which of course it is) we need UNLV to lose at NM on Wednesday. As mentioned above, winning road games in the MWC is the key to getting a championship.

The +1, 0, -1 system works well. Steal a road game @unlv/@sdsu/@csu/@unm is a +1, losing those is a 0. Winning against those teams at home is a 0, losing to them is a -1. Losing to Wyo/BSU/UNR/Fresno/AF is a -1 no matter where it is, while beating them is always a 0. One can tinker and move Wyo or BSU into that upper category if you want, but I prefer to see it as the 4 listed and then the other 5. Ergo, we root for UNM to beat UNLV because UNM is at home.

We don't need anything, New Mexico isn't good enough to guarentee a sweep at home, they can win this game and finish in third.

I root for the home team in these games. We don't need one of them stealing a tough game on the road.

I would move Wyoming into the mix. Ending with a ZERO would mean a 12-4 record. That is about what the MWC conference winner will have. Wyoming may not lose a game at home. They have a good team and a very tough home court.

Wyoming will lose quite a few games at home, at least 2, they aren't athletic or deep enough to win more than 1 of SDSU/UNLV/UNM
