www.cbssports.com/collegebasketball/blog/eye-on-college-basketball/21511398/conference-reset-why-the-mountain-west-is-so-darn-good-this-seasonPretty accurate analysis, especially with his view on Nevada and Wyoming. I really feel bad for Wyoming too. They go 13-0 and will probably still not be ranked today. If any other team from any other big 6 conference started the season 13-0, which included a road win at a top 20 team, they would easily be in the rankings. This begs the question, "Just what does Wyoming have to do, to get some respect and more importantly, a spot in the NCAA tourney"? I used to think that they only had to go 1-5 versus the top 3 but I'm thinking that they probably have to get at least two wins against NM/LV/SDSU and go no worse than 10-6. And just what will a loss to Wyoming do to the seeding prospects of a team like UNLV, UNM, or SDSU? After seeing teams like West Virginia and UVA get into the dance last year, it would suck for Wyoming to put together a similar effort in conference play, only to get shut out.

Wyoming will be very very tough a home. I expect them to go 4-1 at home against UNLV, SDSU, CSU, BSU, and UNM. Hell, TCU went 6-1 at home last year and CSU went 7-0. I predict Wyoming at 10-6 in conference. 23-6 overall with a top 20 RPI. They will get an at large berth.

Nice article. I think his date for the game at UNM is wrong, though.

The question that I have is how long can Wyoming, Colorado State and Boise be as good as they have been this year. Everyone talks about how strong the conference is this year, and I agree that it is. But 2-3 years ago we were lucky if we got 2 teams in the tournament. Do we go back to that after this year?

think it shows no matter what happens in the MW ,it will still be considered a mid major league. The conference record during March Madness has not been stellar. Now that conference play starts , let's see how some of the teams perform. CSU, Wyoming ,UNM are probably good teams and do have a little advantage playing at altitude or in places that are very difficult places to travel to during the winter part of the school year. Did not see the WYO team listed as one of his must see games. Many "experts" look how a team performs on the road or maybe neutral court, home courts and location , can give teams a decided advantage . The regular season starts now ,with teams having to play home and away games, a much better opinion of how teams stack up.

Lets hope they are writing the same types of articles in late March.

Decent article. Fun read.
My biggest gripe is that there's no way Chase Tapley should be left off the all-conference team. IMO, he's the best player on the Aztecs and should certainly be among the five best players in the league.
