With speculation of Ludwig being poached by Wisconsin or another BCS team, who would you like to see hired as a replacement and why?

Promote Horton, hire a new RB coach, maybe make Hamilton a paid assistant.
Continuity would be the biggest reason. The Boise State model of promoting from within is the best model IMHO.

I second James' suggestion. If not, Nathaniel Hackett. He's the son of long time football coach, Paul, and is currently the OC at Syracuse.

This would be optimal, love the idea. Hopefully they move White to LB's too, get rid of Gonzalez and hire a full time DB coach.

We need to jazz up the offense. It's obvious that winning isn't enough to get more butts in the seats, we need some excitement as well. We need an offense to match our exciting unconventional defense. I think we need to go to some version of the spread and speed up the tempo. Take advantage of all the skill athletes we are able to recruit in the area. That super conservative run it on every 1st and 2nd down crap don't fly in Southern California.
I mean this is the school of the great "Air Coryell," let's air it out for god's sake! Something modern and cutting edge.

Down with this- after watching the game- Andy digressed to the first 4 games. Really, some dumb OCalls against a top 5 D.

Plus look what it does to the defense. The Chargers had some DAMN good defensive players, but when you're on the field two-thirds of the game, well you know how many Super Bowls we got to. Ironic that you say that "run[ning] it on every 1st and 2nd down crap don't fly in Southern California." It sure as hell "flies" AT the University Of Southern California. If "football fans" in San Diego would rather lose ("tie") 52-52 than win 10-3, then we don't deserve football here either pro or college. Caviar taste on a diet Pepsi budget, sums up sd fans.

I'd rather tie 52-52 with a full stadium then lose 23-6 with a half empty stadium. The spread is working all across America. Doing just fine at SJSU and Fresno. Two teams that beat us this year and with arguably equal or less talent. Just ask Rocky how hard it is to defend the spread. It's a total fallacy that it requires only elite talent. There is a reason everyone in the Pac 12 (outside of Stanford) is moving to the spread. It also helps with recruiting. Kids want to play in that system. The seven step drop is what causes all those turnovers and why you saw our QB struggle so much last night with only 1 or 2 options to throw. The spread is predicated on quick throws and not taking sacks. But, whatever if you all want to bury your heads in the sand continue to run an antiquated offense then so be it. However, you make yourselves look foolish for attacking me for suggesting the spread which happens to be the most innovative offense in modern football. Not to mention exciting. This is entertainment after all. This thread asked for opinions and I gave mine. It's not the only option, but a legitimize option, and you all just come of as a bunch of angry assholes. I'm not advocating getting rid of Ludwig, that's not my style. However, if he leaves on his own accord, I would love to see the spread come to the Mesa. I like that brand of football. I'm not apologizing for that...

Rocky Long can not, or has not done that. Coryell did.

We need to move out of the dark ages and scrap the pro set. Or at least jazz it up with some spread option stuff. Pro set seems to call for a more talented offensive line, which will always be a challenge for us to recruit and coach up.

Lol, Coryell ran the pro set. The pro set is so "dark ages" the entire NFL uses it. Come on people, it was one bad game against one of the top defense in the nation. Hell, when Boise played them their offense scored ZERO points against them.

Until we change the HC, I'd rather not see anymore disruptions in our coaching staff. Ludwig is not the best, but he's far from the worst OC. Don't know about the other coaches to say one way or the other if they could step in as OC. I do know that we would be saving money...again.

OC needs to be able to evaluate the talent we have, then set up offense that best matches up for what we have. Believe you need to run a balanced attack both passing and running to attack, to attract both QB and other talented RB's and WR's. Run an offense that lends to guys moving on to the NFL(last year we sent a QB and RB). Games are actually won and loss with your line play, so we need quality OL and DL.An OC that runs plays that are not predictable . You also need to be able to recruit .

The importance of field position should be apparent after what we saw. Nothing wrong with what we are doing, but we just need to keep on recruiting to it and execute. BYU, the little blue bleeps, was a darn good defense.

Turner would be awesome. Never happen because an nfl team will gobble him up unfortunately.

Someone who can get the ball to our TE's!!! Be somewhat creative. A very boring offense. They do need to find WR's who can get open and catch the ball. Similar to Sampson and Brown.
We are very weak at WR IMO. Lastly, we do not throw any crossing routes over the middle... Everything is up the hash or an out...
