The only negative is his free throw shooting (which needs a TON of work). Everything is else is fine. Oldie Out hell, what player recently has come in as a frosh and had a halfway decent free throw stroke? Maybe one of these AAU coaches should teach shooting mechanics, nah, that doesn't get shoe deals. Players choose who to listen to about things like FT shooting. I wouldn't be too quick to blame AAU or high school coaches.

I dont get the Malcolm Thomas similarities, they both are shot blockers... thats it, totally different shot blocking style, body types, and offensive style

Coaches should be teaching mechanics, for kids to continually need colleges to teach them how to shoot a free throw points to something being broken in the lower levels.

He's fun to watch. His body language gives a very intimidating presence out there, like he's gonna make somebody on the other side pay for his having to run up and down the hardwood for two hours!

One more on my man crush with Spencer - his ability to shot block on ball versus getting everything funneled to him like Malcolm or coming off the ball again like malcolm is a large positive. He already uses his body to get his swats and for a frosh does not get in to foul trouble, against the bigger teams in the tourney he'll likely have even more leeway. But he also has the ability to prowl in the paint like malcolm did
He needs more minutes

Spencer is averaging 4.32 blocks per 40 minutes btw, 10.27 rebounds per 40 minutes.

I remember telling my fellow "seat-mates" around me...With Johnson now, we're pretty damn close to being complete because it allows Sky to develop and play his game comfortably the rest of the season.
Skylar can get used to the college game this year while he just goes out and clogs the lane and plays defense...There isnt a lot of pressure on him to carry the load down low along with Deshawn, especially offensively. He can work on those things after this season, but in the meantime he can just do what he do. Skylar will be a 4 year player, I dont see him heading to the NBA early or anything, so the way Fish is handling him and the way he is progressing is like watching a masterpiece...it looks like the making of an all-time great.

He's Malcolm on D, but more of a traditional back to basket center on Offense - when he gets his steps and swings down in the low block, he's going to be a monster. Of course, like many aztecs, he needs to overhaul his FT stroke in the offseason. Kid is going to be a good one. He already has most of the Malcolm traits. He's quick off the ground, and gets up there. But, he will be a better D player than MT because he is bigger, and already knows how to use his lower body to control the dude he's working on. He must work on his FT shooting, or he will not play at the end of games. That time may be reserved for "the Big Johnson".
