Okay, I know where you are headed with this. "Look how lousy the Big West is! ! ! Why are we joining that Junior Woodchuck level conference? ? ?"
It's not that bad. Sure, Northridge and Riverside should probably be competing at the Div II level. Fullerton, Irvine, Davis, and Cal Poly are marginal with respect to Div I basketball. (Yes, CP just beat UCLA, but this year a win over the Bruins does not qualify a school as likely to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament.)
However, with Hawaii (this year) and SDSU and BSU (joining next year), and with Santa Barbara and Long Beach already having better than average BB programs, the Big West will be respectable if not among the top 10 or 12 DI conferences.
If we keep winning, we will be fine. Gonzaga is still in the WCC and they are still winning and still respected nationally.

I am just glad the UC Riverside's bench stepped up when the starting 5 failed.

And 3-10 in free throws. Hey, don't diss 'em. The HIGHlanders shot 19.0% from the field! (Way back when I was in college, some friends and I used to toke some weed before playing in a church hoops league. So I wonder . . .)

Anybody else tired of the lipstick on a pig analogy? Not saying I disagree with the point of it but for the love of God mix it up a bit. It tilts me every time I read it.
