www.coloradoan.com/article/20121217/SPORTS/312170047/Boise-State-San-Diego-State-insist-they-re-still-headed-Big-EastFrom this we see the following: 1. You and Boise are still committed to the BE. 2. CBS is only paying $400,000 per school per year to the conference. 3. Not only are the MWC and CBS trying to restructure their television package, but substantial progress is being made. And now for Yoda's correct slant... 1. I have a hard time thinking that CBS is going to come up so far that the MWC can put together an offer that keeps you. 2. Therefore, you're gonezo. 3. Therefore, the Big East will likely poach from the MWC -- and we may or may not be on the list. 4. Therefore the MWC is screwed and Fresno may or may not be screwed with it. Yoda out... .

Comments posted to the U-T by readers who know very little about the relative merits of staying in and leaving the MWC are absolutely worthless. Some are undoubtedly not even SDSU fans, just fans of USD of whatever who, like the fans of MWC leftovers, want to see SDSU crash and burn. And are MWC members now earning just $400K per year in TV money? That can't right. More like that's what each would earn in 2013 if the money isn't bumped up and SDSU and Boise remain in. Regardless, "substantial progress" could mean nothing more than CBS willing to pay as much as $1.5M per year. Big deal.
So you're correct, Yoda. There's really no way the MWC is going to get CBS to move so far that it will entice the two schools to stay. Still, Fresno will be fine. That is, unless FullMonty is correct and the fact Nevada keeps coming up in the conversation is because Boise is pushing for the Wolfpack. The only thing good about adding them is the complete meltdown UNLV fans will have. Hell, RebelRob will probably have to be put on a 72-hour hold.

I stopped reading when I saw reference to a position formed through "reader comments" on a social media program.
Wake me if there's something of value here.

"So, while spokesmen at Boise State and San Diego State both said Monday that their schools remain “committed” and “fully committed” to playing football in the Big East beginning in 2013, fans in both cities have become increasingly critical of those moves, based on comments posted by readers on the websites of the Idaho Statesman and San Diego Union-Tribune newspapers".Getting away from the fantasy of an opinion board, it's a bitch when on occasion a little reality sinks in. That would also include the assumption any school in the MW would jump at the chance to join a conference that is currently a laughingstock. Sometimes it's about more than money, sometimes it's about making the amount of money worthwhile to make the change. That's one thing apparently no one is REALLY talking about because no one has a clue what the BE will ultimately look like. Given we're talking about San Diego, I'm sure the move will mean nothing to the most supportive fan. That is reality.

Either way, Fresno State is a solid brand and is going to be picked up somehow, someway.
UNLV is a domed football stadium away from being a solid brand both in football and basketball, and is going to be picked up somehow, someway.
Nevada has done its due diligence to be picked up. Same, AFA.
Wyoming, CSU, New Mexico (even with an excellent hoops program) -- Those are the ones I really fear for. CSU needs to get cracking on that new stadium, and I don't know what you do for the Pokes and Lobos. Geography kills Wyoming, and the Lobos need to get serious about football. Perhaps the "Front Range Conference", adding Denver, Northern Colorado, New Mexico State, Montana and Montana State, North Dakota, North Dakota State (raising their status)??

JOCaztec leaves right as Yoda comes, coincidence? You be the judge. Yoda has been around for years. I can understand him although not always agreeing with him. Poor JOC was really hit and miss. Although on the nights I had more than three cocktails he/she made more sense.

That was a damn good article. Having aresco negoiciating the tv rights insures reliability flexibility and adaptsbility completlty opposite of the mwc tv deal which has permanent rigor mortis.

Either way, Fresno State is a solid brand What, pray tell, makes you say this? Is it their athletic excellence over decades? Is it their name recognition in the state of Iowa (or for that matter, outside of the Central Valley)? Is it their academic reputation? Is it a "destination city" to which fans from the east coast will gladly travel to see their team play? Is it their big-bucks alumni base? Is it their marketing savvy? I just don't see any "brand" there let alone a solid one. I dont know if you have looked lately at the college football map but there isn't a lot of greatness left. Fresno St. does not meet the standards you outlined above for being a "solid" program but outside of BYU who does that is not already in a BCS conference? I don't think Notre Dame wants to join the nBE.

The MWC is still waiting for its first NC as a conference in any sport. The BE would be wise to take Fresno. The BWC needs more NC's.
