One thing I can always look forward to being interested in is the Padres Prospect listings. I always relish to see how the Padres top draft picks tend to fade into oblivion. Most recent example, highly touted Donovan Tats has no fallen off the top 20 list. www.utsandiego.com/news/2012/dec/15/padres-insider-gyorko-liriano-top-padres-prospect-/I cant wait till Hedges makes the big league roster, that kids going to be something special behind the plate.

Tate was always an athlete first. Extreme risk and elite upside. Not a huge miss IMO.

Tate was always an athlete first. Extreme risk and elite upside. Not a huge miss IMO. Given that we passed on other solid talent to take this "risk", it kinda sucks. Who knows, maybe he puts it together. Doubtful. Other notables taken after Tate: Mike Trout, Mike Leake, Mike Minor, Drew Storen, Aaron Crow, Zack Wheeler.... Tate is looking like a big time bust.

6.25 million spread out over several years.

6.25 million spread out over several years. True enough, but man he hasn't earned a cent so far. It's one thing for a first rounder not to make it to the show (and he still may), but it's troubling to see a high pick and big dollars used on a player whom appears to have character concerns as well.

Like I have stated before, this franchise doesn't exactly have the midas touch when it comes to prospects. I hope at least one of these guys has a good MLB career in their future.
