Can someone explain why Fish hasn't recruited a 6'8/6'9ish power forward type like Malcolm Thomas or Billy White? We have two 6'10 center type guys (Spencer/Johnson), two 6'6/6'7 SF l(Obrien and Polee), but when Deshawn leaves we have no PF types. I thought Fish loved 6'8 tweener PF/SF types? Is he looking for a transfer?

Marcus Lee for some reason chose Kentucky over us. Aaron Gordon, whose father is an Aztec is probably heading to Washington. Hey, we tried.

Spencer is almost a carbon copy of Malcolm Thomas IMHO.

I'm pretty sure we'll get a few transfers.

Spencer will be very similar to Malcolm Thomas, and even though MT was my favorite player on that S16 team, I think Spencer may end up even better. 4 years under Fish will be the difference. Very excited for his future.
Edit: 4 years if Fish keeps coaching that long. Sure hope so!

no way mt had the moves and could dribble a dab, but spencer is a low block down post bruiser!

Bigs don't grow on trees, and the good ones usually go to Kentucky

Spencer is almost a carbon copy of Malcolm Thomas IMHO. No he isn't, Malcolm was a very slender, lengthy type player who added muscle and athleticism as he got older. He was was more mobile than Spencer.

Yeah I don't see the Malcolm-Spencer comparison.
They are very different from what I can tell.

You guys are comparing a redshirt junior/senior to a true freshman. You can't compare a finished product to a guy just starting. They were both listed at 6-8/9 210/20 coming out of high school.

Yaa I dont think there is much comparison between Skylar and Malcolm either...with "Sky-fall" I see a puppy Rottweiler...he's already pretty big, but you know he's gonna be a monster in about a year or two. You can easily see another 10-15 pounds of muscle on his frame. Malcolm would never be able to sustain 10-15 more lbs on his frame...
But he wouldnt need to...Malcolm was much more fluid and smooth especially on the offensive end...seems like Skylar is more of a bruiser, rough around the edges kind of player. Have you seen the baskets he's made? He was falling down throwing it from his left hip onto the backboard. It was damn ugly...but worked. Im actually much more excited about the potential of Sky because he could be the type of player we dont usually have on this team. A big, tough East Coast style baller.

Malcolm never redshirted. That being said they just have different games. It doesn't have to do with Malcolm having more experience nad time to learn. A polished Skylar Spencer will look different than a polished Malcolm Thomas.
