I posted a number of partial rebounding posts. Someone pointed out that 12 blocks (10 and 2) also were rebounded. Below is rebounds from free throw misses, Blocks, and only FG. 8 SDSU free throw misses that were rebounded 5 Syracuse 3 SDSU (37.5%) 5 Syracuse free throw misses that were rebounded 4 SDSU 1 Syracuse (20%) 12 blocked shots 1 Dead Ball (end of half) 6 Syracuse defensive 3 SDSU offensive 1 SDSU defensive 1 Syracuse offensive Field Goal Rebounds (without Blocked Shots) Team | Off | Def | Off Reb% | Def Reb% | Syracuse | 8 | 24 | 29.6% | 63.2% | SDSU | 14 | 19 | 36.8% | 70.4% | Difference | | | 7.2% | 7.2% |
We did get 3 offensive rebounds from missed free throws a very good 37.5% achievment. Blocked shot rebounds are a crap shoot. They padded Syracuse's rebounding stats. We outrebounded them by 7.2% on FG attempts. A 7.2% offensive rebound difference is the exact same difference last year between New Mexico #1 in the MWC in offensive rebound % (33.8%) and Colorado State #6 in the MWC in offensive rebound % (26.6%). In the end it only means 2 or 3 extra rebounds. Extra chances that we didn't convert as well as they did since they outscored us on second chance points. But our rebounding should be pretty good this year, if we could pull down 3 of our 8 misses on free throws and 36% of our offensive misses while holding Syracuse under 30%. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Last year we were #3 in the MWC in offensive Rebound % (30.2%) and #4 in defensive Rebound % (72.5%).
