All I know is that he's one more ex-SD coach/player who have gone elsewhere and won a championship...sigh...

It goes to show that San Diego is unwilling to allocate the resources needed nor are they saavy enough to make the right personnel moves to win championships. They had a great manager in Bochy and didn't hold on to him or give him the tools to win. The one year the miserly Padres spent some money Bochy got them to the World Series. After enduring multiple firesales, Bruce Bochy moves to SFG and he wins multiple World Series within a few years.
Like I said before, Bochy is a great manager and probable Hall of Famer.

Absolutely. Three World Series appearances, two titles. And look at what he got out of low salary Padres teams - he always got the most possible out of the teams he led.
Definitely a Hall of Famer.

I would rather have Bud Black. I never like Bochy as a Padres manager.
When you can start the year with a $131+ Million salary and can still add Marco Scutaro, Xavier Nady, Hunter Pence, Jose Mijares, and Travis Blackley during the season, it is a little hard to compare him with Bud Black.

Whatever, Bill. LOL. Bochy won here when he had talent. I like Black as well.
